FL W204 C180 Kompressor Power Loss on TPE

Hi Guys

Got my brand new C180 in May 2012. I have always been driving Japanese make, this is my first continental make. The car has been giving me problem after only 2 weeks.

Firstly I got this screeching noise from the rear wheel when parking brake is applied when geting in / out of the car. The SA at Ubi told me is normal and will go away after parking brake is season (about 5000 km). Apparently it did not go away, i sent the car in last friday and insist that they have it rectify.

Secondly, this morning was travelling about 90+ km/h on TPE, the car suddenly lost its power, slow down and can feel the engine vibrating. I have to filter to the left and exit into Pasir Ris, I was watching the on screen display but no lights appear everything seem normal. I stop the car and put the gear to neutral, i can feel the car vibrating vigorously but still no fault indication on the display panel. I than stop the engine and waited for 5 miniutes. I restart the car the vibration is gone everything seem to be back to normal, I drove the car to Ubi C&C, they are still checking it now.

Any brothers here have this same experience before can advise ???? As this is my first continental ride and not forgeting that it is a brand new car, I am really very frustrated.

Thanks

Benn

The screeching noise, when parking brake applied, from the rear happened to my VW.

Lost of power sounds like that lemon car that was on the ST forum last year. C&C should be able to trace problem from the data captured by your car.

Benn, loss of power & vibration in engine could be misfiring in cylinders. Which brand of petrol & what grade are you using?

my Citroen 1.6 Turbo charged Picasso had exactly the same problem after 40000km. misfiring cylinder. first visit them claim nothing wrong. happened again. told the senior SA @ CnC that they hook it up their diagnostic to find out the problem. was on 98 petrol.

Collected my ride last afternoon at 6.00pm, like the last update from the SA no fault detected. They just update some software and ask me to monitor if the problem still come back. I am using Shell 98 petrol.

So far no problem this morning, thanks guys for the feed back.

IMO, should not be the petrol, I am using Esso 95. Hopefully the software update will sort out the issue. If you ever happen again, stop the car safely by the road side and call C&C to go there.

it sounds similar to the alternator up lorry.. but in a new car?

my past experience driving a 12-yr old car when alternator konk:

lost all power, brake assist, steering all become very difficult to handle

car vibrated then stalled, also while driving. damn scary experience then..

if it is mechanical, what software update won't help.. unless that software is able to detect other stuff the previous software can't..

imo, they are probably stalling for time till they are able to figure out what's wrong... (my vendor do that too.. give me bs crap story to upgrade this patch and see if issue comes back)

Hi Benn,

I just encountered the same problem, same batch May 2012. Sounds like a Vespa scooter. So, I'm not alone. Just did my 1st service 2 weeks back, complained about the rotten egg smell during hard acceleration. The smell is gone now, so not sure if it is related.

Anyway, how's your car now?

Have the same loss of power problem in my brand new Peugeot 207, worse in the middle of a traffic jam in the PIE. Have to get help to push it to the shoulder. Peugeot checked and reported it as software glitch. Have it reprogrammed and it is ok for a while, then it started again after 2 months. The third time I got myself stuck in the PIE with a dead car, I had enough and sold the lemon. Only less than 6 months old when I sold it...

I am also driving a FL C180K now, so far so good, gives no problems.

I agree.. frankly C4GP is a fantastic car.... but the THP just spoils everything. .... if they would just change the gear to full auto.... they'll have a MPV that could even outsell Estima.....

Had a citroen picasso thp. Loss of turbo thrice. Thats y i sold it.

Engine was co developed by BMW with PSA. Right fatty? Lol. Was tempted to switch to the f30 until my wife reminded me.

Cheers..

Hi Silver88, How's your car doing now.  Did they manage to solve it?  How?  Had the same experience on my 9mth old, 3 times so far.  Will only go back to normal when I turn off the engine and restart.  Just sent it to C&C today, seems like they are unaware of this problem when I already can see 2 cases in this forum (or they just acting blur???)
