Weird Lunge/Jerk After Grear Change

Kismet

Recommended Posts

Hi Friends,

I am not sure if this has been discussed before but ... does anyone here experience a weird lunge/jerk when you change from reverse gear to drive? Whereby the car propels forward like it's a leaping froggie ...

If yes, is this normal or is it time for me to go to C&C for a "check-up"? Any solutions to this problem? It's a bit scary at times ...

Kismet. I had exact experience.

Got a new FL W204 c180k.

The jerk will come every few weeks. Hate it when it shock my wife and baby. It's my long time habit to depress break whenever changing gear too. It's for no reason when it jerked. Dunno how to describe this to C&C too. Haiz. Disappointed. Sometimes, don't know how to justify for the $ spent. My previous Jap cars don't have such nonsense(s)

I believe this is common with FL W204. Mine is the same, when going from reverse to drive mode and stepping on the accelerator too quickly will feel the jerking unless I gave it about 1 to 2 sec before stepping in the accelerator. Guess somehow the gear engagement from reverse to drive is a little retard and slow.

I have no jerk issue with my FL W204 because I wait before change gear and step hard on the brake.

It's the same as my previous W203, I guess you guys need to get use to this.

New software update yet to be release but the service centre has been brief by Daimler Crysler.

Pardon me, there is no more Chrysler in Mercedes-Benz and thank god for this. Accountants designed the Mercedes-Benz during the partnership and at least we are seeing engineers designed cars now.

Sorry to hijack this thread.

I got a question. Does it take a long time to engage the gear? Eg u changed from "R" to "D", it takes a while before I can move. I tried to move off, the car just goes "grrrr". Same from "D" to "R".

Tried another C Class but don't have this issue. Is it because the gear have not "run-in" for my car?

Just came back from Ubi. The 'advisor' told me that the Autotransmission gearbox software update currently not stable. Car very draggy after update. The update not down-gradable. They were told to stop upgrading it. I really find the whole thing very strange...

Actually have u guys experience this before?

U know the road from bugis leading up to this relatively steep slope joining ECP?

I was probably driving 90-100 going up the ramp. Rev probably 1.5-2 rpm. Should be the 6th gear.

As I approach the slope. I accelerate. There was this moment where it seems the car does know what gear to use. So kinda hang for a bit.

Anyone has similar experience? Normal?
