SD card melting in the slot? Hmm. Sometimes I think you guys worry too much and forget that you're driving a Mercedes, German built for quality and luxury.

On a more serious note - I personally think it is OK to forget leaving your SD card in the car once in a while but I wouldn't leave it in the car if it contains anything irreplaceable.

On SanDisk's site it states that their cards are "Capable of withstanding operating temperatures from -13ºF (-25ºC) hours or 185ºF (85 ºC) for 100 cycles (equivalent to 28 hours)"

Though temperatures within our cars may not reach the 85ºC, I would still take note of the period of exposure. However having said that if one considers SD cards as cheap disposable media and if the contents are easily replaceable then there should be no such concerns. I also don't think the cards will melt in the slot.

Then again, there are those with portable GPS devises that they leave on the dashboard, most portable GPS load their softwares from SD cards. I have a DVR installed right behind my rearview mirror which is set to record 24/7. It too saves to a microSD card. I don't park under shelter at my office. These devises are all exposed to direct sun heat, compared to the Comand SD card which is further in the car.

Bro Wishbone,

I don't use SD for my music as I have a huge 160gb iPod classic but would like to make a couple of artiste recommendations to you.

Since you like Olivia's music I would also ask that you give a listen tot his Taiwanese singer songwriter named Joanna Wang (王若琳). She has an easy soothing style and sings in both Chinese and English. Another good Asian singer songwriter is Zee Avi from Sarawak. She has two English albums each of which contains a track in Bahasa.

Hope you will check them out.

sian my car dont have sd car slot..... so envy of u all

My COMAND NTG 2.5 takes only 2Gb SD Card Max capacity.

U might want to consider retrofitting UCI (Universal Communication Interface) by our site sponsor camber53 or ricric_lo.

COMAND SD card only take up a few Gb space.

With that you have a choice of 3 inputs

1. iPod/iPhone (with charging)

2. USB Thumb drive

3. 3.5mm Aux Input

My 6000+ songs only filled up <30Gb of my 160Gb iPod

Imagine you can have 30,000+ songs on the 160Gb iPod :)

Apparently, due to the thickness of "burned" CDs or DVDs, was told that there's a probability that it'll get stuck in the HU. Repair cost to remove the stuck CD will not be covered under warranty. Have never tried it though.

Yes - I have also heard what bro Mark said. If it gets stuck in player not only no warranty you will probably have to fork out the cost of removal/repiar/replacement. So beware!

Yes it did happened to my dad's previous car. Disc really got stuck inside the player. Still able to play the disc but just cannot be ejected. Went back to CnC to get it removed during servicing, no charges
