Test drove W204 today, and booked a white with AMG n 18". (haha...18 road noise is louder)

Realised the road noise are mainly came from the rear....from Tyre noise. I believe whoever cannot bear with the noise, change tyre will help.

welcome to the W204 family. suspect then that the noise might come from the boot compartment?

I have changed to the conservative CPC2, but still loud.

I wonder if laying a 3M mat in the boot would help anot instead of insulating the boot. (cut cost) haha

wheel fender insulation, i will check with my friend, he works in 3M ;)

being to realise now that the road noise indeed is coming from the back.

initially i find it too big too (ie much bigger than the W203) but then I am used to it now. it actually gives better view and when i drive my brother W211, i find his side mirror too small :P

I have half the boot covered with a 3M mat - makes no difference to the noise. So I think its unlikely that 100% coverage of boot will make much difference. ;D

do you just cover it or you actually paste those soundproof material on the metal itself?

3M mat is not for noise insulation but for keeping ur boot/floormat clean, so its put on top.

Pasteing of noise-reducing material is below the mat againt metal at the spare tire well.

the 3M mat is quite thick so I thought it might provide some noise reduction. :P

The C180K Blue Efficiency has smaller wing mirrors to reduce drag & improve fuel comsumption. May be they can be retrofitted on a standard C180K .... ;D

In order to cut down road noise it is possible to apply some tarlike material which excels at soundproofing on the bottom of the car, which also serves as corrosion resistance stuff.

BUT it adds almost 50kg to the total weight of the car though.

Enjoy the road noise, without it you would feel pretty isolated.

sent my car to eunos service centre yesterday to check on the following:

1. squeaky sound from side mirror

- they claimed that it is due to mechanical gear when folding/unfolding but it doesn't sound mechanical to me, more like high pitch tone/signal.. problem unsolved happened again this morning

2. squeaky sound while braking (happen lately)

- they claimed that might be due to my braking style ??? serviced the brake... but problem remain unsolved
