I have some sound when side mirror is folding and unfolding too.

The greatest problem now I have is that i have a message appearing "ESP inoperable". Sent back and its steering column fault

and need replacement, 3 days.

ocassionally some rattling sound coming from passenger side..not sure from where exactly.

lastly, i always complained road noise of W204 is very high. very unbearable.

can you locate the location of the road noise?

unfortunately no. suspect from the boot? as i noticed our boot tyre compartment is not insulated?

i have changed to the more quiet tyre (CPC2), but still noticably loud, esp on those more rough roads.

recently i have been travelling on the new hyundai sonata cab and i realised how quiet and smooth it is compared to our W204.

i've problem no. 1 too. had complained many times to C&C and asked them to fix it but the noise still persists. it is irritating.

Once in awhile I do get prob (1) on passenger side. Basically I think the mechanism is still winding after the wing mirror is fully extended.

For those who have rattling on passenger side in the cabin, I had same problem but for my case, its due to the seat belt clip resting on door armrest so I just push it to the side of the seat where it hangs loose. Somehow my passengers always release and it ends up resting on the armrest of the door.

Yeah I also hate the tyre roar - thinking of changing to "skinny tyres". ???

If the noise is coming from the boot tyre compartment, I think it should be easy fixed by installing noise insulation.

Compare to installing at the doors and floor

i would put most of my bets on the type of tyres tat comes with the W204 which contributes to the high road noise..,.. u will notice that the higher ur speed, the louder it gets. WHereas if u where cruising at about 40+ kmh... its definitely ok.

wat u think?

1) I also have this no.1 problem, looks like this is quite common among many here. Is this considered manufacturer's defect? If yes, C&C should rectify it FOC.

2) I'm also facing rattling at passenger door esp travelling over uneven road surface. The rattle seems to have come from inside the door panel, I suspect something might have been loosened in there? Anybody has found out anything on this problem?

3) When shutting the driver door, the wing mirror seems to shake quite a bit for my car, the sound just worry me as if something may be fallen apart soon, but I couldn't find any screw to tighten there. The shake and sound seems more prominent compared to passenger side mirror when door is being shut. Anyone faces this problem?

4) As for road noise, I have to admit our W204 is quite high but still quite acceptable to me. I guess this is quite subjective and we may sometimes have to look at the overall package when buying W204 (a Mer). For "silence lovers", someone mentioned the Sonata was much quieter and smoother earlier and I have to agree with that because I have driven one before for a short distance and it was actually very quiet and smooth compared to W204, for road noise alone.

My Fuel tank cover is not flushed with the car body. Brought it to C&C. They replaced the cover but problem still exist. Worse now, the colour is obviously off from the car body colour. Need to find time to bring the car in again.

Problems 1, 2 & 3 can be rectified by C&C. Will take them 2 to 3 days. Ask for Customer Service Advisor, Michael So at C&C Pandan Loop. He will get Mr Ang to fix the noises.

Tyres are not the Main Culprit for Road Noise; W204 just have poor noise insulation and also high wind noise above 100 km/h ...... ???

Best of Luck!

i guess the design of the fuel tank cover isn't very good cos mine also has same problem.

Does anybody have any solution for the high road noise? I am planning on spending more money upgrading my ICE, but if the noise level is so high, no point.

As for the sound of rain-drops, I agree totally. It is really loud. I think the roof insulation is really bad. Can we complain to C&C and get them to do something about it?

Other than that, I think the w204 is a beautiful car, the best i ever had!!

the only solution is to add noise insulation that means ripping out ur interior like the roof, door panels, (taking out ur seats to insulate the bottom of the cabin). very heart pain to see ur interior being rip out man. :o

Sim tia plus adding insulation = adding weight. I have used Dynamat extreme in previous applications and love the effect. Gave a continental door feel to my ex Japanese automobiles. ;D

The makers of Dynamat have released another type of thermo acoustic insulation which you can add as an additional layer on existing Dynamat applications. It's called Dynaliner and is available in 3 thickness measurements for different areas of your vehicle.

Re interior noise level lets not get too carried away....recently went to test drive new mazada 6 and Accord and both interior sound insulation worse that W204. But Camry has better interior sound insulation. But then again these cars are cheaper (no insult intended to anyone) compared to W204. Have not tested a 320 recently so cannot comment on this. ;D

i am afraid nothing much can be done as this is no fault of C&C but rather the merc guys in germany, the pple who are directly responsible for the quality of the end product we are getting here.

320 road noise is worst than W204.

yes camry is must quieter, and smoother too.

So W204 has loud road noise, and loud rev noise from the engine as well. understand no fault of C&C. so what can we do ourselves to improve the situation? perhaps sound insulation on the floorpan, boot and wheel fenders?
