Chrome exhaust Tip. Any issue?

Two thing in my car that i think the MB can improve.

first is the locking pin.

2nd is the exhaust tip.

Comtemplating to have my exhaust tip change to chrome version by our sponsor. Just wanna ask general opinion are there any issues after installation?

Bolt on mean = easily removable?

prefer not to wield or cut or perform any surgery on the exhaust tip.

I got my exhaust tips from one of the site sponsor.

Send in for full surgery, cut and weld by exhaust shop as I prefer the real deal.

You may also do just dummy tips, no need to touch existing exhaust.

Or bolt on types that are just mounted with screws to secure, should be able to remove easily.

So far no issues and the tail pipes look pretty cool to me. :D

If its the oval shaped tip from Merc with Merc part number, I tried to test fit and it will not fit without cutting out the stock tail pipes. So welding maybe your only option furthermore it is more secure. Just based on what I know... In most cases the exo shops will know what to do.

Today just added to bolt on type.

Firm and secure :) I was a bit doubtful initially but nothing to lose because it's not a few thousand dollars.

Will monitor. No strange noise like knocking into each other. Perfect fit.

Yup instantly added 10hp :)

Don't think it would melt. But you'd have to check regularly to ensure the tip is securely fastened. Rough roads, hot pipe cooling down, etc can loosen the screws.

I changed mine to Mercedes oval shaped chrome tail pipe at C&C Pandan Loop Service Centre. They will need to cut your existing one and weld the new tip, looks great with the new chrome tail pipe. I just used my service credit to pay for it, so didn't really feel the pain. At least, I don't need to worry about warranty issues cause its done by C&C.

IHMO, C180K tail pipes are angled down ward if using C&C version it will be welded angled up it doesn't look nice (like erected c*ck) --> again one this is my personal view.

Original C180 CGI/C200 the SUS tail pipe is straight so it look nice. I am using bolt on type and so far so good, if I don't like it I just take it out.

Damage was $305

2 hours job

better make appointment first before going down to C&C Pandan Loop

Look nice and clean, $305 to be done at C&C seems reasonable. The exhaust tip will possible cost around $150 to $180 outside plus maybe $40 to $60 of labour + gst would be around $200 to $260. pay $60 to $90 more for the peace of mind.

Hi Jim, the post immediately before yours detailed the cost and the waiting time to get C&C (PL) to install a single exhaust tip.

doesnt matter both are the same two tinny shitty looking pipes. yes, they will cut and do a 2-to-1 joint. fong kim does the same as well - for those who dont mine the lack of warranty, and prefer the "AMG" pipe (please see mark's gallery for a shot of it), can get it from our vendor, Sonic Racing.

there's an older thread that you can seek out here on these forums that actually discussed that exact point. someone actually wrote to LTA about welding tips on. the TL;DR version is so long as you dont go anywhere near the muffler, they don't give a sh!t.

This is nice, didn't know c&c also provide mod for tail pipes. :)

Thanks for the info bro. But I heard welded types of exhaust tips are not approved by LTA, will it be a problem during inspection then.

I have welded exhaust tips on my c class, did not have any issue with lta inspection. Or maybe I am lucky :)
