Single malts or blends? I'm partial to Talisker!

Haven't tasted a whole lot but I'm currently touching base with Japan in whisky world.

Starting with the Nikka Yoichi Single Malt 10 y/o.. Finding it a little too peaty! Maybe it goes better with a cigar haha but I don't do cigars.

I kinda like Glenmorangie's Nectar d'Or which is a single malt aged in sauternes casks and imparts hints of sweet and fruity characteristics.

And for the less serious side of whisky, love love love this one..

Japanese whisky is up there with the better scottish stuff, but at a much higher price point. Once I'm done with my current bottles, I'd probably go for some. I love the peaty stuff. the dirtier the better! lol

Yeah the premium on Japanese whisky is a little high but I managed to hijack some that were unwanted gifts **heh heh**

You like Laphroaig ?

I have had the chance to try the 24-yr vintage but didnt like it as much as the 10-year. It, like Talisker, isn't really widely available here locally. any recommendations where to go to get some at reasonable prices?

I usually get mine when traveling.

La Maison du Whisky @ Robertson does carry some harder to get stuff and their premiums are reasonable enough.

I prefer mine neat on the rocks! I'll let the ice sit for abit and slowly dilute the whisky whilst taking sips in between. For casual whiskyphile folks like me, I find that the taste profile is better understood when diluted.

Attended one whisky appreciation in MBC many year ago. Was taught to drink with a little water in it and got to sample quite a range of different types. Took home a bottle of single malt Sottish whisky, think still sitting in the cabinet.

Great! What would you normally drink ? ;)

Origin : ie, Scottish, Japanese, Irish, Canadian, American

Style : cracked ice, ice ball, ice cubes, water

Mostly Scottish on ice cubes. But I am quite clueless on these things. Heh…

The evening of GTG? strike while the iron's hot. I need help with my Talisker and some other stuff anyway (being father of a toddler doesnt leave me much time to socialise and enjoy my drinks).
