Hi Bros,

Quick question, for all you guys driving the 7 speed automatic transmission models, does the display screen show which gear you are on when in auto mode?

If so, do the gears shift from 1 to 7 or 1 to 6 and then D?

Thanks Guys,

I wanted to check cause I underwent a transmission overhaul this year in June and Mechanic who did it said he changed it to the 7 speed auto transmission but on my display, when I go on manual mode, it changes gears from 1 to 6, then D.

So I wanted to check if other bros with 7 speed transmissions have the same thing as mine or is it from gears 1 to 7..

Thanks Bro Skid, much appreciated

Ya man!! For a moment i thought his mechanic able to swap 5g to 7g engine.

Yupz CLS, but first gen model, not face lifted version..

I think first gen was not running on the 7 speed transmission, not too sure about that.. His remark got me wondering, hence the question!

Thanks guys!

So on manual mode yours runs from 1 to 6 and then to d also?

Hmmm, wonder why it is different from SLK's manual mode of 1 to 7?

Require enlightenment

Yupz, S mode is when gear starts from 1 and not 2.

I believe rev meter gets more aggressive compared to C or E mode too..

Thanks for the updates bro!

Cheers

are you joining us for the meetup soon?

Bro kevho, pls do this simple test in manual mode. When the gear is at 6, watch the the tacho when you switch to D. If the tacho drops, then you're in 7th gear.

On another note, my CGI has 5 speed, in manual mode it changes 1-2-3-4-5-D. From 5-D, no gear at all.

Doc, you mean when you switch to "M" mode, is that right?

I only have "C" or "S" on mine and when i am in "S", i can't recall if mine went 1-2-3-4-5-D or 1-2-3-4-D... hmmm... go test after i get away from my desk...

My AMG sports package has M mode. But I'm referring to the manual shifts either thru the gearstick or paddle shifts while in D mode. For my case it's 1-2-3-4-D. From 4-D, it's merely changing manual shift back to auto, no change in gear ratio as it's a 5 speed tranny.:becky:

Thanks Bro jtang, will do the test when I can..

It should be a 7 speed transmission if thats the case..

Back to the drawing board for diagnostics

Bro chiaster,

I think yours is like mine, m mode is done via gear knob shift, push gear knob to the left and its dropping down by one gear, to the right and its up by one gear :becky:

Hope that helps!

the AMG ones have "M"-"S"-"C" on the little button at the gearbox... the rest of us should only have "C"-"S" or "E"-"S"...

what i meant was, the digits for the full spectrum of the gear shifts only show when you press the button for "M"?

when i am in "C" or "S", i manually shift the gear stick to the left and it drops to the next most appropriate ratio... when i shift right, it shifts up... i remember it shifts from 1-2-3-4-D in both "C" and "S" mode...

so, to summarise, please correct me if i am wrong... and this is for the 5-speeders...

"M" = 1-2-3-4-5

"C" and "S" = 1-2-3-4-D

tio bo?
