This is coming back NSHW (towards Tuas) @ the 126 km marker near Yong Peng (uphill stretch). It was raining but not heavy. The speed was only 110km/hr. Only tap brake the whole car loose control hit left and right. Worst is the air bag didn't deploy! At least another 4 cars was also involve in the accident all skidded. Within 5 minutes later, presto...2 tow trucks arrives.... out of no where!!!

Was told that nowadays tow truckers from Yong Peng pour oil on that stretch during raining days....@&%#*^!!!:mad

So fellow members.... please be very very caution!

driving up north is dangerous nowadays, IMHO, not worth it... my friend's car was broken into, and most of the gadgets that he has are gone... gauges, steering wheel and they even took his rims... i guess they are really desperate already. so i nv advise people to go up north...

For those that are going up north, just remember to park your rides where you will be able to notice, in case anything funny happens, you still will be able to react and hopefully no harm done.

Even if you see that they are in the process of breaking into the car, don't even try to go near unless you outnumbered them. Shout for help at a distance will be a better choice.

These bastard usually are armed and they will not hesitate to harm you.

I would like to take this opportunity to share with all the members here about my personal encounter on the (around 125KM) Yong Peng NSHW.

I was involved in a 16 cars chain accident on the same spot in Yong Peng on the NSHW. I still remembered I was the 7th cars counting fron the front. It was a raining day but visibilty was not too bad. Right after the accident happened, a few tow trunks appearred from no where. Soon after the tow truck drivers started to solicit for business from the drivers of the accident vehicles.

I was approached by one of the tow truck driver and under much pressure ( as my wife , son and grandmother were in the car),I have agreed to a fee of RM800 for them to tow my car back to singapore on the next day. They towed my car away and we managed to find our transport back to Singapore.

Next morning, I got a call from the tow truck driver. He claimed that he had quoted me the wrong towing price and the correct price should be RM2000. Of course I refused to pay him that amount, that was RM1200 more than what we had agreed. So I told him I will get another tow truck to do the job, he just need to tell me where to tow my car from.

The tow truck driver in turn told me, I was free to do that but he could not guarantee that my CD player, engine etc will still be in the car as he was going to leave my car along the road side.

Without any choice, I was blackmailed RM2000 to get my wrecked car back to Singapore.

This was a good lesson learnt and hope that no one will fall for this trap again.

Bottomline is, drive careful and do not tailgate on NSHW.

Hi All

Thanks for the warm welcome :becky:

Yes, I have just gotten my E200 . To be frank, I used to be a SAAB guy and I am a newly convert. Still trying to get used to all the "remarks" from my friends and Colleague on driving a "Ah Pek" car.. they call me Ah Pek, Tao Gek, taxis driver ( my is white E200).. Cuz most of them are driving BMW or Audi. But my white Merc is quite sporty, I even have AMG rims on them. Why I am still a Ah Pek, don't quite understand.

Anyway.. Just to add, the tow truck drivers that towed my car was a member of AA( Malaysia). I did call AA that night and confirmed with AA the company of the tow truck was a AA member.

When I got the call from the Tow driver to ask for RM2K, I called AA and complained. The answer AA given me was (I Quote) : " It is the member reponsibility to negotiate the price between the recommended Tow Truck company. AA only recommend." Then I told them , you have indeed recommended a "robber" to me.

However, this accident happened a few years back.

Kingfisher, most important is everyone is safe. And lesson learn! So guys, this is no hoax!

Exactly !!! Escort no escort, convoy no convoy, even if organised by a big company also can happen one !!!

My boss was part of the Ferrari convoy up to Genting a few years back, where one of the Maserati got banged up along the NSHW by a rouge car trying to see what they can loot !

Can you imagine, 30+ super cars with escort and all at high speed, a normal proton still can do dat amount of damage !!

Unless u can have a Malaysia Datuk help you arrange special convoy(which they did after the incident), else or danger is always lurking.

That why i travel to Malacca need 3 hours even when i drive, cuz i drive slow slow :becky:
