Motor insurance with Aviva a wise choice?

Time of the year again to renew road tax and invariably the much dread motor insurance... no fun recounting how many years I had thrown money at insurance companies just for the sole purpose of renewing road tax. With a clinically clean record - zero claim and LTA demerit points for as long as I can remember - I am arguably an ideal customer (well, sucker!).

Swayed by incredibly competitive rate, I decided to give Aviva Online a go this year... incumbent AXA costs twice as much and next most competitive MSIG 30% higher.

Obviously happy, two nagging concerns that won't go away are coverage for my original AMG equipment which is C&C-optioned rather than non-standard and validity of policy on the ground of modification however defined by Aviva.

I am hoping someone with first-hand experience would come forward to share his/her experience with Aviva. The 14 days money back guarantee could come in handy…

Thanks, ken100

Aviva will deduct yr NCD even the other party is 100% at fault. This happens if you didn't claims 100% on the repairs etc. Did you get a quote from Chartis?? Or do try out our site sponsor & compare the quotes. Let us know of your decision.

Check the forum for past experience... Unless u r very sure that u will not even change the air valve cap of your tires, u may try getting an online product without any sales person to go thru the fine prints.

heard too many horror stories abt aviva. i'd stay away if i were u.

if ur AMG stuff is optioned by C&C, go for chartis. besides, the renewal rate and package i got from chartis is extremely competitive n much lower than many other non-C&C sanctioned insurers out there.

The news on someone just changed sport rim and void insurance on AVIVA. So not wise to go with them. I will cancel my personal insurance with them too.

Thanks to all for your advices.

Disappointedly, my call to Chartis SG this morning leads me to nowhere but a dead end!

Maybe my call was ill-timed...that the officer I spoke to was not in her best of mood. Still, how am I to justify choosing Chartis SG when:

- the officer (by the name Yati) I spoke to can't even find MB E280 AG 2005 or later in the system,

- insists that AMG original equipment is considered modification and has to be declared as accessories to be separately valued and insured,

- the premium is the least competitive among those I enquired, in following order AVIVA, MSIG, AXA and Chartis.

- this is where it gets even better, the premium (at some 8% higher than AXA) is without AMG equipment coverage

Intriguing to think how others' experience could be so different. Perhaps this is Chartis SG's way of showing they value existing customers, which I am not one! I thanked the officer for her time anyway and no-thanked the quotation reference no. Cheers.

IMHO,

If your AMG kit came with the original AMG or Sport package from CnC it should not be termed as "extra accessories" that need "extra coverage".

I think the "good experience" from Chartis applies only when car owner buy a new ride from CnC or probably a used car from RA and continue to use them.

I believe this is due to the "business tie up" between Chartis & CnC so that it benefit all parties i.e Car Owner, CnC & Chartis.

Probably their "stomach full" liao from their "car insurance tie ups" with ADs that they are not keen for "walk in"s.

New car owner gets to pay a "reasonable premium" and if need to make a claim just drive straight or tow to CnC Pandan and the SA will take over from there.

New Car owner if they got their car stolen within the 1st year - get a new replacement from Chartis.

Chartis get almost all the car insurance premiums from CnC new car buyers & probably RA used car buyers.

CnC provide a service to end-users to get the insurance cover for the car owners and car owners "feel good" that repairs are "done by CnC"

This look like a "win-win" situation for all 3 parties.

I remembered my old W203 C Class - I used to pay only about $500 for insurance premiums for the 1st 4 years of coverage. Somehow I think someone in Chartis forgot about the premium increases in the years that gone by.

When they "finally woke up" they want to increase my premium from low $500 to $1500+ in the 5th year of coverage.....Off course I told them to FS! :censored: I ended up with India Insurance at a premium of $800+.:becky:

Ken imho I think AXA not bad lah!!!

Or maybe you look for member Ladyseal for a "best quote"!:hand:
