Here's a pic of the W204 "Sports Package" brakes....

The pics shown is for the FRT brakes...Rear are the stock. type

Min. 17" rims to clear...not sure about the offset ..maybe ET36..but Im sure all 17" MB OE & AMG rims onwards will clear this big brakes kit.

As to how many pots, Im not sure yet...haven't got a chance to see the parts yet but I guess they are 2 piston calipers(but larger size in dia. then the normal piston as originally supplied on the W203 or W204)

sorry if i blur, but can i confirm that you mean the (OEM brembo) original AMG 4 pot calipers for the W203 will fit onto the W204 without any modification at all? - modification to the caliper brackets that is...

pls advise?

tks

they are not wrong to say that currently IF you want or must have the proper original AMG BBK for w204, the ONLY option is the 6 pot caliper for the front & 4 pot for the rear - this is the exact set found on the AMG C63. Currently it seems there is no other W204 AMG caliper option for the "lesser" versions (i.e: C350 & below...)

obviously even if one has the money, it would be overkill on anything less than the C350... in fact if the C350 had them without any engine mods... it is still an overkill probably reduces ur rides' performance due to the added weight of the 6pots + discs & 4pots + discs. But well... some want looks more than anything else!

that, i agree wif you bro, while i am a firm beliver of installing a good set of brakes in your car above all other performance mods, but adding extra large BBKs to your car unecessarily will definitly add additional weight to your car, i have a set of stock brakes at home and boy, do they weight a ton, and that is only stock brakes nia!

but yea, you cant deny the good looks of a large pair of BBKs on your wheels :P

totally agree with both of you. I am keen to change to a better brakes kit but don't have to be a 6 pots due to it additional weight and also our current bhp don't require it too. That's my thought.

You are correct, the only difference between the AMG sports pack brakes & the Elegance/Avantgarde is:

- Cross drilled rotors for AMG pack

- "Mercedes benz" cover plates on the factory calipers. for AMG pack

other than the above, no diff...

cheers

- Cross drilled rotors do make some diff lah, it create lots of friction when press against the rotor. The germans will not be so stupid right??? juz add on the wordings "Merc" for fun ?! :P

Thanks again. Maybe check out some rides in the forum before deciding on the bbk and aftermkt exhaust.

Any updates? Any pics of newly installed BBK?

Am thinking of changing to BBK 4pot/2pot for my c200.

Are stock brakes 2pot/1pot?

Thanks!

yes stock is 2/1 pot

corss drilled rotor make a lots of diff bro. stopping distance is the diff

hmm... you are right to say tat crossed drilled rotors does improve braking... BUT it will not be "a lot of difference" IF the size of the rotor is the same and the brake pads are the same...

the intention for cross drilled rotors is to help in cooling of the rotors... its effect in improving braking distance would not be that much.

For example if u compare the stopping distance of say a ventilated 300mm cross drilled rotor VS a ventilated 330mm non-cross drilled - both using say the same 4 pot caliper plus same brake pads.... the 330 mm will definitely have a very much bigger reduction in brake distance VS the 300mm x-drilled rotor. If both are same sized rotos while one is x-drilled & one is not, the braking distance will between the 2 is negligible. However, if u talk about endurance... then it will be noticeable...

Since effective braking is also proportionate to effective cooling, i would say that a x-drilled rotor should be able to have higher endurance (more effective for longer) when u need increased hard braking especially on track... (note that a bigger rotor can absorb more heat too.. but without x-drill, it might take longer to cool)

slotted rotors on the other hand is actually supposed to "de-glaze" your brake pads when u race ur car on track... otherwise for normal road use and under normal braking, it is more for looks than anything else if u ask me..

does it help?

cheers
