Any reason why I should stick to MB COMMAND...?

instead of choosing an after market device like this:

e-class.jpg

I would very much like the NTG 4.0 but don't think my CLS can take anything other than 2.5 and wifey seriously want a one-box solution to her navigation needs.

I have had prompt and friendly replies from our site sponsors, thank you but I would like to explore options before committing myself. Cheers!

lol, 3 buttons short on the right.

btw, where did you see this?

Saw this on the website of vision-sg.com. Saw their advertisement for these car AV units in the sunday CATS car-nival section. Supposed to be for an E class but think can also fit W219. Any dangers I should be mindful of? Like maybe the steering wheel buttons for page up and page down don't work etc? Grateful for any advice.

If my eyes are not wrong, this is not COMAND NTG 2 or 2.5 but an after mkt lookalike from brand Dynavin or something liddat!

Singapore probably is new but I believe in MY they are installing this after mkt HU.

How well it integrate with the original MB system I dunno i.e including steering control & information in the instrument cluster.

This unit will be more or less like an after market HU and will not have information display in your instrument cluster i.e Navigation routes & info, songs title, BT Phone book, list & numbers, etc, CD/DVD titles and tracks.

Last but not least, they should not cut any wires going into your current Audio 20 HU to fit the new HU.

You dont have to stick to command, I'd like the command unit but I search for my destinations via postal code in sg and the command unit cant do that main big reason why i'm still trying to decide if its worth it. A few other options as provided by bro kepiting1sg in another thread

1. AGIS based map is based on Win CE OS

- Look for Leslie from Nicewerkz

51 Ubi Ave 1 #05-28 (8B)

Paya Ubi Ind. Park

Tel: 68443268 Hp: 96286226

2. Garmin based with GVN53

- Look for Ah Boon - AutoSpritze

115 Eunos Ave 3

hp: 81633839 (OFFICE HRS ONLY)

3. COMMAND NTG 4

Bro Camber 53

Option 4

Alpine Double Din HU Touch Screen with Garmin based Navigation, BT, DVD, iPod, USB.

Some controls with steering but no instrument cluster display unlike NTG 2.5

NTG 4 - Not suitable for CLS

CLS other than the new CLS do not have external separate LCD screen - thus not suitble for after mkt MMI from Leslie Newwerkz or Garmin GVN53 from AutoSpritze.

IMHO AGIS based map future updates are not free and updates can be pathetic!

Thanks all for the invaluable feedback. Will explore options with the contacts given here. AFAIK, my car can't take NTG 4. Do let me know if I am wrong. Cheers!

IMHO,

Your car cannot do Comand NTG4 and cannot do after market MMI.

U can either do Comand NTG 2.5 or after market HU like the one U have posted or like the one I mentioned from Kenwood which have Garmin GPS, DVD, USB, iPod, BT.

Please take note after market HU will not have full integration with your ride.

i.e no information display on your instrument cluster and probably lose some or all controls on your steering depending whether U opt for after market HU with "canbus".

I agree somewhat.. which is why on my incoming C180 .. i'd most likely upgrade to a 6" touch screen with input for a GVN53 and/or a windows based GPS running Garmin :)

Currently aft mkt mmi one corner running GVN53 with Garmin maps using Radio Hz remote control

The other Camp window CE O/S Touch screen with Aigis Maps.

Told update for Aigis maps not freuqnt and have to pay for new map updates

U will have a market for it if U have touch screen with GPS running Garmin maps integrated with your current Audio 20 HU! :thumb:

I have it already working for the RCD510 (VW)... not the RNS510.

So I will test it once my ride is in :) LOL :)
