IPOD interface kit for C200 W204

All W204 comes with Aux in the glove compartment, but it lacks the Ipod connection so cannot control the Ipod from the sterring wheel and instrumental Cluster. Has anyone of you out there installed the IPOD interface kit? How much is it?

IMO, for that kind of money, really not worth it. Better off using that money and buy a load of CDs. If not, just run through AUX. $1k plus for an interface to connect iPod is just ridiculous.

With $1,038 you can buy the best iPod plus a set of champion speakers from Altec Lansing and enjoy the music at home..or buy a champion set of head phones. When in the car, just listen to Radio and the selection from your 6 best discs.

In Singapore (unless you are frequently on the NS Highway to Kedah), each driving trip usually will not last beyond 1 CD length.

Just my 2 cents worth.

$1K for interface. ::) Other options are:

6 cd by $18 per cd = $108 (some made in china cd only cost $4 each)

6 mp3 self burn approx 3-4 hrs = 18-24 hrs of music. Cost of disc not even worth mentioning.

Use radio no cost involved and can get traffic updates. (there is the radio license but use or dun use radio you still have to pay for the license.

finally got the iPod interface installed. It is great! The iPod sits in the glove compartment and the entire iPod can be controlled using the steering wheel buttons. The music title can be seen on the instument cluster.

I went to C&C. The Ipod interface plus installation cost $1038. I am not sure if MBM knows how to install this. I heard from the mechanic that they have to load in a new software. Under Disc, there is a Aux selection. When the Aux is selected, the instrument cluster under Audio will show the IPOD interface.

hmm.. i got the IPOD connector thrown in for my w204. i wouldnt say its great cos u cannoot change playlists and it basically plays ALL songs in ur ipod from A to Z... u cant do a search - all u can do is to scroll until u get ur selected song... :-\

it is like an aftertought instead of a proper INTEGRATION of the Ipod interface into ur factory system.

this problem is similar to wat u get in current AUDIs wit the IPOD connection specified. I have seen an AUDI TT wit the interface and theirs was worse... no song title...

my guess is tat these carmakers does not want to pay any royalty fees for officially integrating their software to use the IPODs/IPHONES....

other than tat i cant think why they simply cannot integrate wat is essentially a simple thing.

Cheap and dirty way: get any ICE installer to lay the AUX output with a cable all the way to your side arm rest, then you can control the iPod directly.

I think the Harman Kardon Drive+Play II might be a neat solution. You cannot control from the steering wheel, but you can have a cool looking control wheel located at a positon you choose. The whole set comes at less than $400 (i think), and installation should be simple as the control unit is wireless and you can leave the "brain" in the glove. That is, if you can find a place to put the 3.5" screen.

I am still searching for this here, doesn't seem very common surprisingly.

Anyone care to comment?

my iPod interface on the instrument cluster allows me to control the iPod using the steering wheel. For playlist and playing album or by singer by pressing the phone button and selecting the arrow up or down key. Came with iPod interface menu

Hi,

Is the volume from your iPod substantially softer than that from the CD, Radio, etc?

If so, C&C did not install the MB Line Amplifier for the iPod Interface for you. Apparently, C&C was not aware of this MB packaging flaw. I brought this to my SE's attention when I collected my W204 on Feb 26 and C&C only installed it on Mar 27. The SE claimed that it is the first W204 to be installed with the MB Line Amplifier. ;D

Cheers,

Guess what when I brought my car in for them to install the line amplifier? They wanted to charge me $80! I told them off! shouldn't it be part of the IPOD kit? According to C&C they are separate items. Was so pissed off, told them to waived the $80. They eventually did. Anyway, with the line amp, there will still be slight softness when you turn on the Ipod. Nothing is perfect right?

It's true that they are separate items becasue of a packaging flaw by Mercedes Benz.

My SE initially wanted to charge me $80 when I highlighted the problem to him. I declined to pay for mine as the iPod Interface was bundled with my car and not including the line amplifier is an oversight by C&C.

So I mentioned this problem when I return the Customer Survey Forms to both C&C and Daimler. As expected, my SE called me 1 week later to inform me that they will fit it for free.

Hope you paid $680 + GST for the kit ..... :3some:

NO they charged me $1080 for it!! how come they quoted $680 for yours?

I didn't pay extra for it as mine was bundled with the car.

The $680 price is advertised on the C&C website;
