It's always better to declare all mods to ins companies as having them cancelled at a critical moment of claim is one BIG headache. Had a friend who tried to claim $20k repairs to his GTI after a bad accident only to have it rejected. The final straw was immediate termination. Poor chap not only had to pay out of his pocket but could not find another ins company to take over. In the end, have to demod his car....:(

Thank for the highlight guys. Will never buy online for car insurance. Period.

For so many years, I have some accidents, they will repair those of original factory fittings or standard items from the AD, just ignore the mods. But this.... IMHO, handling improvement mods should not be an excuse to rescind the insurance protection unless;

1) it's clearly explained to the client by, eerm well, in this case, somebody.... Customer service or someone... Followed by a clear exclusion clause in the delivered policy stating this in simple language.

2) the handling mods/mod are the direct or indirect reason that caused the accident to occur. Eg. Faulty or badly installed BBK that causes insufficient braking force for the car to come to a halt and etc.

3) non-LTA compliant products.

That said. We do not have a clear details of the car's other mods to give an

empirical comment. Good luck all, and I hope that non here in sgmerc will encounter such situation. ^^

IMO I think for Merc to up size from stock to 17", 18" and certain models to 19" or 20" should not be a problem... as long as the rims are within the Mercedes specification...:whistle:
