I bought the same model as well.

During the very first start up, it takes a really really long time to capture your position. Be patient ba, go to an open space area to initialise the unit. It should work after some time.

Make sure U dun have too much material wrapped around your Nuvi 1460.

Prolong usage will get it heated up

Running at elevated temp - unit may kaput faster.....hehehe!

No need to believe me!

Unker can be your insurance!

If your screen got scratched, I've 2 spare screens

If your Audio 20 kaput, I got 2 spare Audio 20 HUs.

If your Nuvi 1460 kaput, I've one for sale.

Hope U dun need me!......muhahahaha!

btw have U updated your Nuvi 1460 to the latest maps.

If yours is a local set or from C & C - U should have the following latest

maps in your Nuvi 1460

City Navigator Singapore/Malaysia/ NT 2010.3

Malsingmaps Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei NT 2011.10

I know U usually have lots of Qs, so I try to pre-empt them.....hehehe!

How to check?

Turn on your Nuvi

Hit the Tools button on the right side bottom corner

Next screen - touch Map

On the Map screen - touch Info.

It will show what maps are in your Nuvi 1460

If your Nuvi do not show the below as your latest map

Malsingmaps Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei NT 2011.10

go to Garmin site to download.

How to update your Nuvi 1460 to the latest maps

Go to garmin website and hit the support-->map update-->Singapore/Malaysia

Choose the map that is meant for your Nuvi 1460

And follow the instructions there how to update your map.

It's free .

BTW The latest firmware for your Nuvi 1460 is Software Version 2.7

Hope this help!

I'm also having the 1460 Garmin.

Do any brothers here know how or where I can download free map of England? Am going there in July.

Buying from Garmin is expensive itself.

TIA.

U can rent maps from Sg Garmin agent Navicom for S$1.99/day but on a weekly basis.
