here I will like to share with you all ...

about the Mercedes-Benz A.S.R... system

Earlier Topic A.B.S .... now A.S.R ..

This ASR ... is works together with the ABS

it meant ... the vehicle equiped with ASR ...

the ABS system is STANDARD built-in

ASR control function of

#- Brake intervention

#- Throttle Valve return

the A.S.R.... for M/Benz had few Versions ...

this ASR come @ introduce into the market somewhere year 1987 ...

at that time @ product generation ...

it was only avialable for the S class W126 (option package)

we called the ASR system ...

ASR I ...(version I).......10'87 ~ 09'89

. the system equiped with seperate hydraulic unit for ABS and ASR

. ASR storage pressure supply from seperate charge pump

...........................................................

ASR II ...(version II).......10'89 onwards

introduce into the Market take over the production ASR I

. ABS and ASR Hydraulic Unit combined into a COMPACT h/unit

. ASR storage pressure supply from the charge pump in the h/unit and additional charging pump

this ASR II production breakpoint start at 10'89 for Model

W126 , W124 , W201 ... (option package)

W129 as of start of Production (Standard Package)

ASR III ...(version III)....... 10'93 onwards

introduce into the Market somewhere 10'93 take over the production ASR II

A.S.R. ...... Acceleration Slip Regulation

ASR is an automatic system for improving the starting off

and acceleration capability as well as directional stability.

The basic ABS and ASR components are combined in the ASR Hydraulic Unit

The ABS and ASR circuits are also combined in the eletronic system

of the Brake control circuit (you all called it ABS Control Unit @ some called ABS with ASR system)

but the actual technical words was ASR Control Unit or Control Module ...

The speed of all wheels are recorded and processed in the ASR Control Module.

If The ASR Control Module recognizes from the speed signals

that one or both wheel are tending to spin,

the ASR control mode begins.

Brake Moment Control Circuit

The Spinning drive wheel is brake/reduce by the associated wheel brake

until the calculated drive slip is attained.

ABS prevents the wheel from LOCKING when brake

and therefore maintains the steerability and directional stability

when the vehicle DECELERATION ....

ASR prevent the drive wheels spinning while driving.

it also improves directional stability with an increased traction capability

throught the entire speed range...

Driving Moment Control Circuit

in the case of the EFP @ EA @ Electronic Acceleration

the ECU are used to control the drive moment control circuit

the ECU Control using the throttle valve and ignition timing or fuel shut-off is performed.

EBR is also integrated in the ASR.

It prevents the drive wheels slipping in overrun mode and ensure direction stability.

the ABS will come in automatically to reduce the OVERRUN wheels

The ECU will shut-off the fuel system ....

or Closing up the Throttle Valve ... to reduce the Engine Torque

in case of the ASR begins , the warning light Flashes and warns the driver

that has approached the physical driving limit of the vehicle.

ASR OFF switch ....

The ASR can be switched OFF via this ASR OFF SWITCH.

The driving moment control circuit is then no longer active.

Brake intervention on one side can be effective while starting off up to a speed 40km/h.

when this ASR OFF switch is operated,

the warning light in the Speedometer COME ON PERMANENTLY

this is to remind the driver ASR is switched Off

If one or both drive wheels spin , the warning lamp FLASHES.

this applies to the entire speed range.
