After the Dempsey meetup, I am still left with 3 GPS for use with Mapking.

To anyone who wish to have a GPS to navi ard in Penang, pls find yourself a WindowsMobile PDA, ala HTC, Dopod, Palm, Dell, HP complete with car charger & holder. (Pass me connection cable if not mini usb)

In addition, you will need to bring along a car or A/C charger for the GPS (mini USB) Preferably car charger. The GPS is supposed to last abt 10hrs in a single charge. Your mileage will vary.

On the 10th April pass to me at MBM if u r going down to have your car checked. I will load in the trial Mapking (licensed for 3 days only) together with WMsia & SG Map and pass to u on 11th morning. On the departure of PG, we will reinstall 1 more time. Note: Need to hard reset.

SY69,Jeff, Protoss, 9339, C35: Pls learn how to use the GPSr to save Pt of Interest(POI)/find POI so that u can find ur way back to Hotel or a location if break contact.

Seriously speaking, 2 things: u need to position the unit near eye level, Trying to navi, drive & listen can be very challenging esp when u kena Msia highway where the road spilts into 4 diff direction.

The other alternative is not to use the 3D mode. 2D imho is better.

Protoss:

Your T-loan Nuvi is with me liao. Try to pick it from me this wk so that u can twiddle it all the way thru.

The charger for the GPS is with me liao.

I have 1 Dell PDA with Garmin Que, GPS complete with charger for both PDA & GPS (no car cradle). Also another set using HP rw6828 using Garmin Que & GPS with aircon cradle. Only 1 charger using USB. And 1 GPS itself.

Those who wish to loan pls let me know early. You need sometime to familiarise with it. Not good to try on trip itself.

For the last GPS, I have managed to pair it with Dopod 900(3.7inch screen). So all in all, 3 sets of GPS cum PDA for loan all complete with car charger but no cradle. 1 set secured by Willy.

Willy: Since you are the co-driver, I suggest u take the HP rw6828 (2.5inch screen) as the Dell x51v & DP900 are both 3.7 inch ideal for those intending to drive & navigate.

For all this unit, I will try to load the route up into the Que where time permits. No promise.

The reason for West Coast Mac is there is a big carpark in front and can have a big breakfast. Then refill your coffee for the drive.

As David mentioned, first time user of GPS needs to practice how to use because trying to poke the small phone or PDA screen with a stylus while driving is dangerous. I am eagerly waiting for this Friday. ;D
