do read the uv and infra protection readings..if that matters at all, the costs usually rises when the protection readings are higher , not necessary the darker the tint.

So it depends on what you want...swee swee dark dark or protection from the elements.

I used V-kool for my previous 2 cars and this time the SE gave Huper Optik when I got the C180K. So far so good, my car is black on black and I find the HO film very effective. I could recall someone told me that HO is good cos they are made of ceramics but don't ask me why it is better.

As for tone of the film, I would suggest to ensure that it will pass the inspection as I had friends that have to remove the film as they were not compliance to LTA requirement.

I would prefer to go for more reputable brands like V-Kool or Huper Optik.

My only bet is VKool, which I did for my 3 rides. And only go for the highest grade.

Before I installed Vkool on my W203, I was told by my friend to try C*** & L****. Says it is cheaper and better. Decided to listen to him and installed the highest grade, at $690. It was definitely a bad move... Can still feel the scorching heat on my legs and hands while driving. And the tint is lighter, so I felt naked driving my ride...

The following week, I went to my regular installer Vkool, remove all the tint and installed VKool highest grade. The effect was immediate. Only very slight heat felt on my arms and legs while driving under the scorching sun.

Can get e whole ride done for under $1k.

Agreed on the VKool experience for the highest grade!

In Batam Island where I work, I found out that U can tint a whole car with dark dark cannot see from outside or look like mirror type for less than $80.

Your guess is as good as mine how effective are these films and how cheap they can be and how much some installers can rip from U!

A big con about top grade VKool - It even block & weaken GPS signals coming into the car......speaking from experience.....hahahaha!!!

Yeah, that's true... GPS signal will be greatly affected. Solution is to have an external GPS antenna. I thought it weakens HP signal too, but it doesn't.

I had an external antenna from my Garmin GVN53 placed on the dash board.

On the Audi A4 with High grade VKool GPS signal from 0 to 10 being strongest was 2 to 5 only. Nearly wanted to bring the antenna outside but I sold the car.

The same thing on my W212 with HO, the signal was 5 to 10.

It's the different material coating between VKool & HO.

So far the HO ok lah! It came with the ride.....hahahaha!

My personal perference is Tintsy Cool ... tried nanolux (in 2004), CMI ... re-do with Tinsty Cool, really can feel the difference .. My next PI MPV, solar film given is worse ... like dun have ... re-do again with Tinsty Cool. Then had my Altis done by Tinsty Cool too ... For the W204, b'cos solar film is given, so I did not go to them.

To me I am not sure if my hands will be scotched by sun during drive, but I can feel that my car cool down much more faster after parking under hot sun with Tinsty Cool ... For the W204, I have not gotten a chance to park under hot sun yet :becky:
