Wheel Woes

Just finish cleaning the car.

Soap and dry car = 25 mins.

Clean wheels = half my life...

Damn gazillion spokes wheels are murderers. Any one knows a good spray on and splash off spray for the wheels?

After the wash revealed a 15 cm wave line scratch. Anyone know how to conceal this? Thks.

I use Armorall Wheel Protectant to keep the brake dust off, it really works. Can get it from Home-Fix or Giant.

Downside is it costs around $15+ a can and is enough for only 2 or 3 sets of wheels.

I've used resin polish / t-cut to successfully remove some hairline scratches in the past. Throw some love and patience into the job and you should have a good result. :)

Bro Alvin!

If U are bordered by it, then should consider a respray just for that rim!

Go to:-

Tan Seng Whatt

#05-02 Sin Min Autocare

Look for boss Tan Kian Ling - 93663285

He should be able to get the correct color to match.

Not cheap place to go but among the best in SG.

As for wheels protectant - did heard so much about Armorall Wheel Protectant. Lots of people swear by it!

Unker did bought a bottle but still have'nt found the time to do it.

Meanwhile poor Unker has the benefit of staying in HDB flat.

I get the Ma Ma car washer just to wash my wheels 5 times a week for $15/mth.

My younger bro lagi hiong!...He paid the washer to wash his W203 Brabus wheels for $10/mth. :becky:

This way, my wheels are kept clean most of the time! :bounce:

+1 Sonax wheel cleaner

watch out for the strong ammonia smell (dun use it in an enclosed space) and watch out not to spray onto the brake calipers...suspect the chemical compound may have adverse effect on the brake pads.

Oooh. Ammonia may age/wear unprotected aluminium rims over the long run. Better not to use it on wheels that don't have a protective clearcoat.

thk you for your replies. Woot!

Sorry to even post this, but I am fine with 20-30mins workout, just not the rims scrubbing part.... hmm, strangely all ah neh, disappeared from woodlands and marsiling carparks a while back.... any policies by the authorities to forbid this?

the scratch is no prob lah. no really bothered by it. the mentality i have is, like sending my new puppy onto the field to play, wondering when will i spot the 1st flea.

Sorry, found the scratch on the back of the car near the fuel cap, not at the wheel. Cant be really bothered if scratches are found there, (especially on a stock rim, hehe) as long as the integrity of the wheel is not compromised.

As for the spray on type, i have seen a few last few days. I am determine to find the best one with the following feature, not sure if the market has it tho...

1) Spray on

2) wait for 30 secs or so

3) rinse off with water.

4) clean and sparkling :becky: hmm, ok, I am fine with "just not dirty"

No scrubbing needed... I remembered i used to have something like that before... damn dementia...

your dream rim cleaner sound awfully like Sonax.

I used it mainly on my dual chrome exos tips of my last ride after I 'surgically degutted the feline spp'. If u had similar experience, u will understand how hard the brownish stain on the exos tips is to remove. During car wash, i'll shampoo the car body first, then i spray the sonax on the tips, and i continue to rinse the car slowly from front of the car...my the time i reach the back, I'll just rinse it off.....i don't need to touch the tips all the time except for the most stubborn road tar bits that need a little loosening with a trashed sponge.

My AMG rims are painted. Anyway, only spray and rinse one wheel at a time, so Sonax stays on wheel for a few minutes nia. The only problem is holding breath during spraying cannot be a few minutes.
