S'pore roads: Halloween every day

Loh Keng Fatt recounts his daily scares while driving

Drivers in Singapore are the most arrogant people about. Felix is spot on "I own the road" mentality is everywhere - "In my new fancy Mercedes, how dare you pull into my lane, I don't need to head check, if it's not in the mirror it doesn't exist". There is no courtesy whatsoever, and Police, what Police?

You think it's bad in a car? Try riding a motorcycle. I have ridden all over the world, including some countries with extremely poor roads. But Singapore is terrible: rampant mobile phone use, lane changes without looking, an "I own the road" mentality. Last week I was rear-ended by a guy in a Mercedes at traffic lights because he was texting!

Argh . . are Mercedes car drivers so detested? :) I thought it was only the Sonata taxi drivers who I find reckless? :)

It's worse in Jakarta & Bangkok so I dunno what's there to complain about.

Better widespread campaigns for road manners should be implemented perhaps.

No end to this MB, BMW, Lexus driver argument. There are drivers of other marques that are a safety hazard to others on the road too.

It is the driver and not the car!!!

I agree with U!

However others even other car forums like to stereo type MB owners as Ah Pek, Unkers & hawkers too.

Those that stereotype are narrow-minded. Don't waste time on them. They obviously don't recognize that Mercedes-Benz quality stands for nothing but the best.

"The Best or nothing"

Mercedes must have created a lot of impact to them and thus they will only spot mercedes for feedback.

Or maybe they just can't recognize other brands?

I have seen so many jippon cars and VW every day dashing recklessly or hogging right lane on expressway (not KPE) at 70km/hr, some even smsing or using mobile phone. One VW just cut into my lane without signal the other day and scratches my wheel arch area. And he came down and didn't apologize....just using the ah beng style... "how? Swa swa or claim"!
