Just a hypothetical question but I am sure some of us might have experienced this before:

Imagine this : you have just reverse-parked your car, another car comes along, reverse-parked alongside you, the driver opens his door carelessly and 'boing' hits your car!

Now you are still in your car so what do you do? :)

I will get out & inspect for dent, if found one ask for compensation!! If he refused just smile & walk away & look for a hammer :). Just kidding on the hammer thingy!!

I had this experience ...

I was returning to my ride after shopping. spend sometime loading up my stuff. Then came this lady (not pretty) and 2 kids came and returned to their nissan Lato.

The little girl opened the back door and swing it really hard!! BANG !!! kena my door and I walked over and found a dent. The lady saw it and pretend nothing happen. I told her to get down and inspect. she even started her engine. So i went in front of her car and stop her and opened her driver door asked her to step out.

OK she LL now. She saw the damage and say no problem very common. Park car in HDB also like that. She do this all time. normal to hit other door while parked beside. I went what the $@@!. Asked for compensation. she refused. say going off. wow then i stop her and she goes on and on say i bully her. Soon a crowd of KPO formed.

She went on telling me its normal nothing to do with her. ask me to knock her car as well..... I told her crazy !! your car is cheap and waste my time. I got no reason to damage yours. then she KPKB ..... SUDDENLY I cannot take it ... I YELLED at her pretend that I want to slap her .... raised up my hand. ... Then this siao char bo kept quiet .... Even the passerby told her she is in the wrong .. hit ppl car must compensate.

Now she end up like a timid mouse ... Just now so loud.

So took her particulars ... she wanted mine too... didnt want to give she snatched back her driver license. ..... Bitch !!

I took photos .. .etc I told her will file insurance. Asked her another time if she wants to settle else I will take her to court and instead of paying $200 will end up thousands of dollars..... she still dont want ...

Went to C&C next day claim her insurance ... finally her husband agreed to settle with cash thru C&C total cost $500 for a small dent. Teach this bitch a lesson. Even if she apologize, pled leniency and offer $100 i will take, LL buy touch up paint and DIY. She dont even do that and insulted me. Too bad. got to pay for her pride stupidness ....

Sometimes saying sorry goes a long way ...

If I am in the same situation, I would do what apple088 did but I wont argue or shout with these people. At the end of the day, what hurts is the pocket so sending them a big repair bill from Cyle & Carriage is the best.

Whoa, standing in front of her car is dangerous - what if she panics and drives straight at you? Remember that guy who died when the taxi ah-pek drove and knocked him down on Scotts Road?

Touch-up paint and D-I-Y? No way, not if your car is your pride and joy, right? :)

A taxi driver crashed into my 2nd car parked outside the house and drove off, despite the damage to his car. I was out. Luckily for me, my neighbour's 2 sons, alerted to the loud bang, chased and caught him hiding in a car park 2 km away! They followed the drag marks on the road and then heard the loud noisy engine sound of the taxi when he tried to leave the car park thinking he had escaped. Lucky me! He didnt bother to come and apologise so I sent the car to the agent's workshop (it was less than 2 years old) and made a police report. Few days later the taxi company's insurance called me to settle. The damage? $18'000+. YES, $18'000+ for denting the 2 doors and front fender and the agent's workshop even changed the 2 wheels! :) More expensive than the OMV, I think!

Aiyo .. its not the $$ thing.

The husband was not around then...

If I am the husband sure scold her .... juz say sorry maybe save the $$

The effort to get it fixed ... file report etc ... very troublesome.

Some more make my blood pressure boil. My wife was around so .. .her mood also spoil. She has to restrain me from being too angry.

ikea car park? the woman in pix the one? ppl who drives red car, very temperamental one.

I know its not the $500 problem, but when that biarch dun pay, dun apologise and still make comment like "she do this all the time and norm to bang into others" is totally unacceptable... This kindda ppl need to be domesticated, and in extreme case, medicated.

I think the husband should be quite reasonable, I think thats why u settled for $500 token. As you have both witnesses and evidence, suing them for couple of thousands should be in order, including legal charges. Let the lawyer letter, educate them for you.

Thats why I say, just apologise, profusely if required, understand that diff ppl have diff takes on their assets and belongings. I dun know about you, but if the mum ask the kid to say sorry to uncle and explain that she/he do not have the strength to control the sudden hydraulic moment of the door, I would have let them go, not even asking for a cent.

Yeah you are sharp .. visited there to buy stuff or my new hse.

Seeing mother and little gal I even stop my loading let them settle into their car first.

Yup its the attitude ... I was shock ... didn't know what to say when she says "door dents are normal at carpark just knock my car back lor" First time heard this totally puzzle ... searching for words to rebutt. Even my chili padi wife also shocked ... dont know how to rebut such statement on the spot. Especially when the incident happen right under my nose.

We were expecting her to say sorry and at most scare the little gal abit. Threat it as bad luck at most buy touch up paint "dot dot" it and let it pass .... and tell the little gal don't do this again. But this mummy dont even teach her daughter the right thing. What a parent!!

A little sorry goes a long way .......

The settlement was with C&C. I only sign the discharge form for the insurance.

It was the husband signature and was told by the C&C that the husband came and settle.

Well at least the husband acknowledged ... else will be a long drawn legal case if he denies or do not respond to the insurance claim.
