Mercedes recalls over 85k cars

World*|*Updated today at 07:03 AM

By AFP

WASHINGTON - MERCEDES-BENZ is recalling about 85,000 of its 2010 and 2011 cars because of potential steering problems.

The luxury automaker says in a report to federal regulators that the steering systems in the cars 'may fail due to the loss of power steering fluid.'

Mercedes-Benz says that if that happens, drivers 'may not have sufficient control of the vehicle . increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.'

The recall affects the 2010 Mercedes C-Class and the 2010 and 2011 E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet models.

Owners may return the cars to dealers, who will check the powering steering systems for free, the company says.

I was discharged from Pandang hospital

Did 1 week of surgery. Changed suspension, slide mirrors, wheel alignment, etc ........ etc ..

Doctor advice to rest well and hopefully recuperate.

Please come back for more coffee and pastry when you feel ill again.

And YES I still dont feel SHIOK !!! Cannot drive straight and feels like a drunk!

Dun forget your ride & the koolpay ride is based on the C Class floor pan that's the main diff. So parts can be quite diff from the sedan.

Dun go high speed in sillypore and drive carefully!

Have a thought for other road users pls!

Hi,

My SE called me tis afternoon to inform me that my W204 CGI is part of the recall.

All affected cars will be receiving letter frm C & C by Nov 2010. They'll schedule the car to replace the affected steering wheel problem.

IMHO is Singaporean syndrome!!! But i think there is a possibility as the steering is a common parts, i might be wrong though.

just sent in my W212 for 15k servicing and my car was also on the recall list so was due for inspection...as it was assembled around the same time as those "suspected"... after checking bo tai chi...according to the SA who attended to my car, so far not a single car under C&C is affected...so good news for all W212 owners and probably W204 as well...

for those affected by the recall...no worries...just go for the inspection to get a peace of mind...:becky:
