Throttle Controller for Mercedes

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Have anyone tried this before:

http://www.singaporecarsforum.com/carforum/showthread.php?t=6884

It looks exactly like Pivot 3 Drive, and has the same functions.

On a side note, does anyone knows whether Pivot 3 Drive can be used on C200 W203? I have a set for Jap car, but dunno whether can just change the wire harness and attach to a merc.

i wanted to buy sprint booster initially but the high cost put me away. ended up buying 3-drive equilvalant but taiwan made. i find this 3-drive thing more practical than sprint booster. i used to select the highest throttle signal when i first bought the set, had lots of fun zooming away, but also see the fuel gauge going empty in half my usual period. Now i ended up turing to the lowest throttle signal, and my fuel consumption dropped from 11.0 to 7.8. This is sometihing that sprint booster cannot achieve as it only has 3 stages - off, normal, high. nowadays i only turn on highest signal when i want to be the first to speed off at traffic light.

snappy bro, were u the one who sms me and ask abt my 3 drive?

Hi bro j888, yes I sms you about the 3 drive. Initially wanted to buy the Violence 3 drive from Sung Beng Auto. But after reading all the negatives reviews about this workshop, decided to drop my idea.

Bought a used sprintbooster from an installer for $170. For me, is much better than stock. However, I still find the accelerator pedal abit too hard to step for comfort. Is there any way to make it easier to step?

Juz curious, would S-mode work as well as the SB?

IMHO - They work differently!

Current S Mode - kepts lower gear range at higher engine RPM than C Mode

SB - amplify the throttle signal for a "quicker throttle response" without any increase in hp

On my previous C180 W203, I did SB but later took it out after a few months cos I dun really see the benefit.

Without SB - The best FC I did on my W203 was as low as <6.5L/100km and with the SB amplified throttle signal, find it very difficult to go below 6.5L/100km on the highway.

i agree. had quite a bad experience there.

but most replica of pivot 3 drive, including the original pivot 3 drive do not cater for our brand, only this workshop made and modify the harness for our make, so no choice even if the service sucks.

for the SB, is yours a selectable or a fix settings? i'm afraid the accelerator pedal is unable to be adjusted for comfort. i guess after using for a while u should be used to it :)

my fuel consumption is high on S mode at almost constant speed

with throttle signal tuned to low, while travelling on CTE for about 10 km @ average 90-100kph,

S mode - FC at 8.5L/100km

C mode - FC at 7.5L/100km

Mine is fixed, but dun think I'll ever adjust to mid even if I have the adjustable one...

As for the stiff pedal, read somewhere that can try to take out the spring and stretch it a little. Maybe I'll ask my mech to try that.

A Q for those using sprint boosters or equivalents: how exactly does it alter the car performance in the C and S mode after you've installed it? How does it affect your gear shift points? Thanks.

IMHO,

No change in car performance for the C & S.

It does not affect your gear shift points

It just give U "a quicker" throttle response only without change in any perf.

All it does is to amplify the throttle signal just like steping harder on the gas pedal.

Doesn't really affect the shift points, but the car feels more responsive. Also, it eliminates the lag during pickups. IMHO, it is a must have mod!

Bro AmosPoh,

the main purpose of SB is to increase the throttle response. For e.g, normally you need to step the accelerator to 80% in order to get 100% throttle. With SB, you might only need to step the accelerator to 50%. Normally you need to step the accelerator 10% to get 10% throttle. Now maybe 5% on accelerator gives you 10% throttle. In short, less strain on the right foot, a light tap might see the car surge forward and burn some rubber.

3 drive gives you the flexiblity to adjust the setting. 1->Eco mode = -throttle, normally is 5 steps. For better FC, but slower pickup. 2-> Nor = normal mode. 3-> SP = +throttle, normally 7 steps to adjust. SP7 is the strongest. Some says that even at SP7, SB has better throttle response.

Guys,

correct me if I'm wrong...

some hardcore guys even put 3 sets of 3-drive in series, to achieve SP21 when all maxed out.

Yes, it has the same effect. But as mentioned, someone tried both before and thinks that SB is better than 3 drive even when set to SP7.

Bear in mind that Violence 3drive was not suppose to work for our ride, but was modded by Sung Beng Auto. Please google their name online for their "reviews".
