I read an article abt joker left is car key on top of his car boot & drove the car off. No prize for guessing what's happens next!! Also, one of my chio bu fren told me that her ride is so super quiet that she didn't realise that she has not shut off her car after parking. The next day when she realise her chio bu stoopid mistake, the car is in a coma state!! Lucky for her, the Mercs specialist manages to revive her ride or I will be her chauffeur for the next few days.

So!! during the weekend, I sibei eng, do a test on this but with control technique!! The moment I drove off, the control panel will prompt u "Key not detected" twice in red screen, after that its goes back to normal (white) color screen. I just wondering why not Red screen throughout if key is out of range? In UK, keyless go for MB is not common bcos of insurance issue. That is for MB, not for the rest of marque. This is the reason why when u getting from PI most of them doesn't comes with this feature & not bcos of simi cost cutting thingy. But hearsay this have change too, PI can obtain keyless go function with only $5k top up.

In my opinion, the chances of leaving yr car key elsewhere is slim. If u r those absent minded is better get a necklace ya. Anyway, in my opinion, keyless go is convenience & meant for lazy ppl like me to pull out my car key to start / stop my ride. So, is a definitely YES for me not too sure about the rest. Care to share yr thoughts on this??

 unless yr chio bo fren did not lock her car after parking...coz she cannot lock her car if the engine is running...i experienced that many times and have to open the door to turn off the engine...

of course if your key is inside the car you cannot lock it too... i agreed with you i think the keyless go is a fantastic feature to have...

Unker & Wife - both of us cannot live without Keyless - 1 of the main reason we sold the A4.

Also the main reason for not taking the PI AMG Sport Package with Pana Roof which IMHO is easily >$30k cheaper than AD.

In the past, no Keyless no problem!

Once U learnt about the siokness of having sex, it's contagious.....muhahahaha!:becky:

Happened to me just 2 weeks ago... I forgot to off the engine and went opposite roadside coffee shop for dinner. Luckily I was looking at my car while sitting opposite and realise the side mirror not auto-retracted. Then I try and use my remote off and found that I couldn't do so. I had no choice but to cross the road again and check what was wrong. Realised then that I didn't off the engine....

What you need is the loud exhaust that comes w modded headers and pipes. Chances are you're not going to leave a running engine unnoticed :becky:

The keyless is a marvel. It makes a big diff if you're carrying stuff and have to fumble around for the key. With the Keyless, the fob remains in the pocket so there's no issue of locking it in the car etc. It has become a major quality-of-life factor for me. Most satisfied.

Well having said that... I still love the keyless go. Only time I had key plugged in is when valet returns my car. Still... car is so quiet... just keep making mistake pressing the on/off button at gear shift. :becky:

Loud exhaust is now a thing of the past for me... used to have Lorinser exhaust 10 years ago in my previous C Class. End up have to spent 2.5k sound proofing the car to have a comfortable cabin. Now just on stock exhaust.

Hmm it's seem like MB needs to add in additional features to counter the out of range issue while the car is running.

My suggestion will be the fob & steering wheel will vibrate once out of range is being detected. But if u leave the fob inside the car, u won't know rite? No, in this case the whole car will shake!!! Idea??? :)

KNS! U saw the Red Warning "Key Not Detected" on your flashing on your DIS twice after driving off - Is that not enough to tell U to go look for your key?

Want simi steering vibrate or your signal nites go flashing all over.

Have U ever driven off without releasing the "handbrake"?

Red flashing warning sign and dun tell me U ever continue driving with the "handbrake" on without noticing it?

For seat belt chime & flashing sign - think many of us to that like in a car park. I even ever drive until the chiming & flashing sign goes off......hehehe!

(cos we know no real harm to the ride)

It's just like an electric circuit on a piece of equipment and putting in fuses, breakers, emergency stop button & more fuses, breakers & more stop button.

Flash twice only after back to norm leh. It's didn't Light on Red throughout leh. If fob left inside the car how? No Red signal or watsoever warning? Like chio bu fren, she didn't stop & lock the key coz she said E class super quiet!!

But no one has problems with it? my FL W211, the rubber seal at the back of the handle already broke three times, allowing water in and disabling the function.

My W211 is 109 000km, car is 2.5 yrs old. Both rear passenger doors and front passenger door seals have each been changed once under warranty, now my warranty just finished, the rear left passenger door rubber seal broke and water inside again. The funny thing is passenger doors seldom opened, on average once every 2 days.

Bros or sis' looking at keyless-go function might wanna consider this issue (of rubber seal breaking) before ticking the option. Spoil already can just use the key, but why have a function on your car that cannot work. Warranty over in 3 years, quite sian to drive another 3-4 yrs with a set of redundant buttons on the door handles. It takes away the perfection/high standards expected from a Mercedes benz (assuming we all demand a certain standard level whether it's an A-Class or S-Class). A friend's Suzuki Swift also has this keyless-go function (for the doors, not sure about engine-start), after 2.5 years still working fine, never replaced before.

Anyone have idea how much to change? Mentally prepare myself since going for servicing next week.

I'm sorry to be the negative one in this thread, at first I loved this function cause of the convenience, but now have become quite disappointed.

Hope the W212s won't have such problems! Hopefully they perfected the seals!

Bro Funng,

Hope the repairs not so costly!

My 1 year experience with the previous 1 year old pre-owned FL W211 has no problem with the Keyless, Doors not opening or seals on the door handles.

Was told by 1 guy that once a while - good to use the remote to open the doors and crank the engine.

The new Keyless is different in the sense that the Start/Stop Button is fitted into the Key Hole.

To use the key to start the engine, we have to use "finger tip strength" to pull out the Start/Stop button assembly before we can insert in the key to crank the engine.

IMHO The W211 Start/Stop on the centre console look more "stylo milo" than the current one.

Would like to know where to fix this keyless go function. I mean for the new car that does not come with it. I think the new C180 CGI can be compatible with it.

C&C do not do retrofit and no one else in SG can do the oem retrofit for Keyless.

We could have a "retrofit expert" coming soon but I am told to fit Keyless will cost a "BOOMZ!" meaning many '000 $$$ and IMHO not worth it.

Unker! I hope so too. Update the costs next week when I go C&C for servicing.

You're right with the Keyless-go having to start once by putting key into the hole for W211. If stay away from the hole too long, will get "itchy" and cannot recognize its home (buay lin chu), then the sensor cannot open door from standing distance, sensor strength like weaken. So once in awhile must put into the hole to recharge! satisfied liao then can open door from reasonable distances..

pull out assembly? means the key always will recognise its home liao ah! hahaha. faithful relationship like that. better! hahaha.

Bro skoder, like Unker said, will be costly even if you can find someone do for you. In the long run if the "fit" no so good, you might be having alot of problems cause seems to be a lot of electronics involved! the costs might be high to maintain yourself without warranty.

Orh !! Must shaft the key into hole one awhile!! Noted!! as I loved insert hole, must I used the fob, finger can? :)

Gotto grind your finger & shape it to fit!.....hahahaha!

Bro Funng put it so nicely that the hole is itchy and need to insert the key once in awhile or else beh gin chu....hahaha!

On a serious note - that is recommended especially if U encounter Keyless problems in opening or closing doors.

Found something new abt keyless go function. Say all yr windows are down, after u get out fm yr car & u lock it. Probably u will unlock it and lock the windows by using the window buttons or take out yr car key to lock it rite?

Nope, u can skip this hassle, what u needs to do is to continues touching the handle all the windows will automtically folds up!!

Try it, is fun!!! I guess this will work for my canopy too :)

Thanks for the tip. I had to depress the lock button on the handle for this to work. And work it did like a charm. Works on the sunroof, too. :becky:

what a statment, mean we must always fill the hole at home too to create the faithful relationship too....:bounce:
