I have just discovered that there are at least 2 budget airlines that fly to Malaysia using those propeller planes! (Turbo-prop?) In this day of jet planes, this sounds so retro! Anyone tried? I guess these planes fly lower so one gets to see the ground better? Eh, I am not from Tourism Ms... :)

Sat in a turbo prop in Nepal when I took Buddha Air for a turn round flight to the Himalayan Mountains. The plane can fly slower, closer & lower than a jet plane for better view of the mountains. Came pretty close to Mount Everest...awesome sight.

Turbo prop is still a jet engine, with the fan blade outside instead of inside like a turbofan. Prop aircraft cannot go high but today's prop is as advance and can be even better than a jet aircraft, depending on its role.

Many air forces in the western world is using turboprop aircraft for their advance jet training as they fly like one.

I just love these flying machines, especially those with "props" pointing up; aka helicopters.:becky:
