Hey all Finally took the plunge and went for new shoes for the C200. Currently running around happily on 18" AMG REPs and Michelin PS3 tyres all purchased from Leong Seng. The tyres were not manufactured in thailand but from somewhere in europe can't remember where. Gotta say their professional service and patience was prob the reason I chose to purchase from LS (aside from the good price).

To answer most of the questions, Yes PS3 are very quiet, better then the Michelin Primacy that came stock with the car and so far and grips superbly in the wet and dry. Cornering performance far exceeds the stock tyres. However I have only had them for abt 1000kms tho so will keep an eye on them from time to time and update as and when.

Cost:

Rims : Approx $250 per piece

Tyres : $320 per piece

Anyways enjoy the pics.

Nice rims!

What is the spec for your rims? Offsets? 18X8J? 18X9J?

The rear seem like it is flushed with the fender or just out slightly...maybe it's parallex... any issue with rubbing?

Erm I never had PS2s before so I cant really say for certain, however I have used the CSC3 before and this trumps it everywhich way. That being said of course tyres are new so i'll wait for a bit more before confirming that fact. No rubbing issuesrims sit jussssssst flush with fender. LeeCH luv your car man yea was looking at EIBACH springs to lower the car where did you get yours from ?

I got it from the importer of Eibach which is Alfa Sportivo in Sin Ming. Do a check on google using Eibach Springs Singapore Importer Distributor. I lost their number already.

I ordered my eibach prokit from Alfa Sportivo as well. Blk 9, Sin Ming Ind Estate Sector C, #01-30. Tel. 62976628.

Now is a good time to buy cos the price just dropped from 400+ to 300++.

The only thing is the wait...takes about 6 weeks to ship in...maybe mine is a rarer model...so if urs is a more popular model, they may have ready stock.

Been using eibach for all my previous cars and all with bilstein shock. This time round decided to try eibach/koni FSD combi.

My advice, if u decided to change to eibach, might as well change the shock at the same time..save on the installation and aligment cost. No matter what they say about the eibach being designed to work with the stock...the performance always feels better paired with aftermarket shocks...rebound and body control is much better.

Still waiting for my shipment... Another 4 weeks to go...sigh..

I have paid for the Eibach ($360++) but still awaiting shipping arrival. Alfa Sportivo workshop arm is dealing mainly with Alfas (as the name suggest), so I'm not too keen to let them install.

I'm sure any workshop can install the springs/dampers for any car after tinkering around but a seasoned Merc workshop will be able to do it without mucking around and can pre-empt any commonly occuring problems unique to the particular merc model. They will be able to trouble shoot better and most likely have ready stock for wear and tear parts..in particular things like spring pad for the rear installation.

I am intending to install it with koni FSD at a pro-Merc workshop like MBM and get it aligned at Kenny's at AMK Autopoint about 1-2 weeks after to let the newly installed suspension settled first. No point getting it aligned just after installation (some of the workshops do that) as the alignment will run after it is settled.

In all, the installation and alignment should be around $150 there abouts.

Installation and alignment u can do it for $150??? Interesting, how much MBM charges for installation and Kenny's charge for alignment? Care to share, as i intend to lower my ride too.

New Fong Kim can do install and alignment for 180-200, depending on how much u can bargain

Kennys alignment is 50 bucks if it's just for spring/wheel change. Going kennys tmr.. springs have settled in! :)

now that you questioned me..I just realised that the price estimate is more for a japanese ride from where I came from (my first conti...my wife's mini dun count cos I didn't mod it)...hehe ....I have not asked MBM for quote yet but maybe about $100+ for installation I will find reasonable...

the last time I remember it's about 70 for alignment....

so total <$200 is reasonable...if it is more than that...must really wonder if the workshop is charging more simply because it's a conti or the complexity of the job.

For labour charges on replacement of spring or suspension easily cost $130 or more!! If Kenny can charge $50 for alignment job that is a super good price!! Just curious, the alignment equipment software are up to date?? Coz mine is W212, can anyone confirm with Kenny?

As for conti or Jap the mechanism is similiar for spring only. However, some Mercs model suspension that comes with airmatic or dynamic suspension is entire ball game.

Pardon me if I'm not too overly concerned about the cost of labour charges for the installation because personally, the installation charge is only a minor part of the whole modding process...once you decided you want to mod a certain part, the main bulk of the cost is in the actual parts (usually).

And I always believe in:

1) paying for a service rendered

2) market forces will sieve out those who overcharge for the level of service they dish out.

for the record, I don't think Kenny charges $50...cos the last time I had it done was $70 after a spring/shock change.

I agree that a spring is a spring... and their installation should be more or less similar. Any seasoned mechanic can do a spring swap given the right tool. The thing that differentiate a mechanic that is well versed in that particular model from one that is not is his ability to troubleshoot any problem during the installation process quickly due to his experience and the workshop's ability to get you the replacement parts quickly.

For me, I rather pay abit more for a professional job done quickly and smoothly so that I can spend less time at the workshop the better.

Also, to highlight something I just found out about MB's spring system recently that is different from most Jap makes: the rear spring of the MB have this spring pad on top of the spring. there are various sizes that can choose to adjust your rear ride height. this spring pad has another function and from my understanding, MB from factory uses linear spring and they make use of the spring pad to add a little bit of progressiveness towards the end of the spring travel. So you see, not all springs are exactly the same.

As mentioned, I'm still new to MB modding and thus have not seen the part in person. But google and forums are our best friends! :becky:

Mercedes Benz OEM Spring pad

Supposed to be fitted into the top spring perch for the spring as illustrated in the red circled portion in the picture below

Not sure about W212...I suspect it should be the same throughout the MB family short of the air suspension fitted ones.
