Noticed that the C&C std tints are from Huper Optik but it looks kinda light to me. Thinking of opting out and getting darker ones done outside. I've Rikekool (CMI) & Lextint Premium (not bad) on my other cars but was wondering if any bros got other recommendations? Read some good stuff abt Infratint - any bros here hv tried them and hv FR? Thks.

Sounds good. How's the heat rejection and most importantly, clarity of film? (i.e no distortion)

Guess $500+ is not unreasonable for a quality tint. Sometimes do cheap-cheap can land up spending more. Did once at Silent for $400 but realli CMI quality. The film radiated heat, was prone to scratches n clarity suxs. In the end, had to pay money again to re-tint elsewhere.

Infratint is good. If it is bad (bubbles etc), xxxx will redo it at no cost. (Can't rmb the boss name. lol!)

That's the way. My previous car had Rikekool (not by choice - juz once of those 'std freebies' that comes wif the car). Had a few bubbles on the widscreen and could oso see the horizontal joint across (dunno why they used 2 pieces to instead of 1). Brought it back to RK to express my dissatisfaction wif the workmanship. Their response was unbelievable - keep saying they dun see any joint (think even a blind man could see it!) and that some bubbles is normal. If i want it redone, gotta pay. Realli CMI.

His name is Sherman. I also did all round tint (platinum package) including the front screen. Heat rejection is good and so far, I've no complaints.

Hi vt5sport,

Were you offered 35% tint for Huper Optik?

Anyway i read on other forums sometime back mentioning Huper Optik is good stuff.

Went the VKool way a fortnight ago, replacing the non-LTA compliant CoolnLite. While much lighter to the look, the heat rejection was noticeably better. Had a heart-stopping moment when they stripped the film off the rear windscreen. Apparently, now and then the heating strips come off with the film.. But according to VKool, so far none came off on Mercs. :becky:

BTW, the VKool film had made it a tad difficult to read the IU. Gotta cruise thru' carpark gantries slower else it may not read. This despite cutting the film around the IU. A small price to pay for decent heat rejection, IMHO.

For my case no cutting of film around e IU. They removed e entire IU unit & stick it back by new double stick tape. After e new film hv settle down then u stock it on yr own or by them. I choose to do it on my own bcos I can shift it to my desire position as long as e cable length allow.

which tinting is compatible with the original bluish factory glass of my car?

On one hand I want higher heat rejection but on the other hand I don't want to lose the unique blue tint.

Are U are referring to your W211 avantgarde oem blue tint!

IMHO, probably the "higher" grade of VKool with >70% which is almost colorless will retain your blue tint.

it's the avantgarde blue factory tint alright..but mine is the W203:becky:

This factory tint is in the glass itself right? Can't seem to fine edges of a film on the inside of the windows at all.

I'll look at HO...been using it on my last 2 cars...like the effect and the fact that it is non-metallic based...better radio signal transmission for gps/IU.

I concur with your last statement.

When I had the VKool on my Audi A4, the gps signal was pretty bad but not with the HO on my current ride.

hahahahah cant resist the temptation!!! My setup is the only the front windscreen is clear!!! The rest is on the dark side too :)

For now onwards, i prefer to get it done outside instead from the dealer as most of them unable to get the setup that i wanted. Furthermore, nowadays the film pricing is getter cheaper not like those days. With this, you swap the film for something else like tail pipe, pedal sets and many more goodies as the film easily cost $1000 plus from agent.

Btw vt5sport, i can hear yr laughter from here :)

wahahaha......

RD promo comes wif a $3k accessories credit. Managed to get 50% of that to be converted to an outright discount so i opted outta the huper optik for $1.5k. The balance 50% i used for the integrated reverse cam. It looks so much better (bigger and clearer too) than that small little box thingy pasted next to the rearview mirror.

Yep. Put on reverse and the image shows up on the entire A20 centre screen.
