Tuning C200 CGI

Has any bro here used OBD tuners for tuning the current C200 CGI? Apparently they're using Optican software from Germany, promising 20 plus bhp & 23Nm of torque more...similar to C250.

I was told that a bro did his C200 yesterday, hope he's here in this forum as i want to hear his opinion.

piggy back or reflash the ecu or rechip?

Till now, I dunno any tuner can unlock the Merc ecu to reflash it!

Just a word of caution, more power on paper doesn't mean more power on the road. Your C200 CGI may have its power early in the rev band (or later, I don't know, I haven't tried it) but after tuning, although on paper there is more power and torque you might only have access to it at say, above 3,000rpm. Of course if your power comes late now and the tuning eliminates the lag, then that's great. Just tread carefully...

I think MB has also tuned the 250 models (C250, E250) to be more powerful on paper but IMO the useful torque comes only above 3,000rpm. In that case I'd rather drive the 200 which may have less turbo lag.

Anyway, remember that with a highly tuned turbocharged engine you're likely to have higher wear-and-tear and consequently more frequent service intervals. Expect problems.

Good advice...will bear this in mind. Anyway, I'm in an exploratory stage now. Thanks bro.

It's a reflash bro. They can even reset the counter, no evidence of tampering. This is like a stage 1 tune for a VW or Audi..

My previous Audi Q5 did a stage 1 refresh - increase stk 211hp 350 nm to 272hp & 390nm. No need to dyno, butt dyno can confirm the increase! :becky:

BTW it was mTm and if your audi is by AD, after mTm reflash do not void your warranty! Likewise for many "known tuners" out there - policy is we break it, we replaced it"

promising 20 plus bhp & 23Nm of torque

whp or chp?

Like Mr. M had said - be careful - fried ecu won't be cheap to replace!:hand:

It just me - if I wanted a quicker car, I would have kept my Audi 2.0 T Quattro and put it up to at least Stage 2. :becky:

To be brutally honest, the torque converter auto will remove almost all hope of the 200/250 CGI models to be 'fast' or 'quick'. I'll only say they're brisk. Gearbox simply sucks too much power and shifts too slow to be even considered 'sporty'. If you want fast and easy to mod? Get a turbocharged VAG product like kepiting said.
