SINGAPORE : Local telcos SingTel, M1 and StarHub may not be selling Apple's iPad this Friday but they will be dishing out data plans for consumers who buy the 3G version of the tablet computer.

M1 announced that its iPad data plans will be available without a contract and will support 3G network speeds of up to 7.2Mbps (download) and 2Mbps (upload).

The telco will offer two post-paid plans. The Data Lite plan will cost subscribers S$21.40 monthly for 3GB of data, with maximum data charges capped at S$51.36.

The Data Unlimited plan will cost S$39.48 per month during the promotional period (usual price: S$43.87). M1 will also offer consumers a 30-day pre-paid card with 1GB of data at S$20.

StarHub is offering a 60-day mobile broadband pre-paid iPad plan at S$32 with 2GB of data usage.

A StarHub spokesperson said consumers can expect the telco to launch more data plans to "meet different usage needs" of such devices.

For 50GB of data and offering speeds of up to 7.2Mbps (download) and 1.5Mbps (upload), SingTel will charge subscribers S$34.50 per month, with maximum data charges capped at S$94.16.

Subscribers can also choose to sign up for a 2-year contract at S$30.50 monthly. The telco is also giving away a free mobile modem with a 2-year contract that will cost S$36.50 monthly. There will be a one-time charge of S$13.38 for the microSIM card.

SingTel will also offer a 3-day pre-paid unlimited data plan at S$12.60. Consumers can choose to top it up at S$10 for 2 days, S$24.90 for 7 days and S$49.50 for 30 days.
