Aftermarket Rims

Just curious. Has anyone put in aftermarket rims for the W204, other than AMG/Mercedes/Carlsson/Brabus rims?

Am thinking of for example, BBS rims. Just wondering if there's any feedback or recommendations from any bros who have done this.

Thanks.

Thanks bro. The privat wheels look nice. Just wondering where you got them from. Is there a local dealer/showroom? Also like to find out the specs of the wheels e.g. weight.

got mine from Ray-S. not sure if there is a local dealer. for specs, suggest best to email them directly. basically, for Merc... quite difficult to find from outside of AMG / Brabus / Carlsson.

another place you might wanna try is Leong Seng.

Thanks. I actually spoke to Leong Seng and Hurry Tyres. Hurry didn't have anything in stock for me at the moment. While Leong Seng had OZ Ultraleggera, Prodrive GC-05K and Advan RS.

OZ max load per tyre is 575kg. The other 2 was 690 kg.

Thought the Prodrive looked good, though its a Jap rim. Wondering if it would be weird to put that on a merc...

Not cheap either, cos its forged.

Torn between this one and BBS CM.

Sigh.

True la. Mine might be the first C180 in Singapore with Prodrives haha... the light weight is seriously attractive - only 8kg for 18"

Though at that price point, I wonder why I'm not going for BBSs... must be mad

I'm interested in the prodrives as well. But after doing some research, seems like the fitting won't be ideal.

our stock rim size is 7.5" ET47. the 18" GC-05K's for 112 PCD is also 7.5 but ET50. This will make yr wheels inset even further by 3mm. which reduces yr track width.

Anyway, these are some of the Jap lightweight rims that's able to fit the W204. sizes are for both front and rear axles. Pls note that these are 'sure fit' sizes in close compliance to recommended specs as stated in the manual. There are many more but measurements are off by +/-1 to +/-3mm for both inner and outer clearance. and of course, all are in 5 x 112PCD.

haven't looked into staggered setups yet. W204 centre bore size is 66.5 mm dia, hence can fit most rims listed below. main problem is the PCD and ET. Those in red are forged and those in blue are cast-spun.

There's many more from WORK wheels, but they should be cast alloys, thus heavy. Sizes below are in 18" and 19" only.:bounce:

1) PRODRIVE GC-05K: 19" x 8JJ ET50

2) PRODRIVE GC-014i: 19" x 8JJ ET50

3) RAYS VR G2: 18" x 8JJ ET50

4) RAYS VR G7: 18" x 8JJ ET50

5) RAYS VR RE030: 18" x 8JJ ET50

6) RAYS VR RE030: 19" x 8JJ ET50

7) ENKEI GTC01: 18" x 8JJ ET50

8) ENKEI RS05: 18" x 8JJ ET50

9) YOKOHAMA AVS F7: 18" x 8JJ ET50

10) YOKOHAMA CONNOISEUR: 18" x 8JJ ET50

11) ADVAN RZ: 19" x 8JJ ET50

Ya, I noticed that as well. But not sure what will be the impact of reducing the track width by 3mm on each side? I drive the car hard (when I'm alone) but not that hard.

I'm thinking of not upsizing, as I wanna keep the current comfy ride set up for my family.

So this could be a pure performance (much lighter rims) and partial cosmetic mod. hehe

Wow, bro. I see you've done lots of homework. Thanks!

I saw some of these at Leong Seng as well. Didn't consider the blue ones because of the cast spun factor - lower max loading. Guess I just wanna play safe.

Agree that 8JJ ET 50 is probably the closest to ideal. But my wifey likes the 5 thin-spoke look, so the yokohama and rays wheels were out.

End up with Prodrives GC-05K as the remaining option. And I'm not prepared to go 19" both from cost (of rims and tyres) as well as ride quality perspective.

I'm drooling over how light the 17" will be (<7kg) and the difference it makes to pick up lol.

Guess performance outweighs cosmetics slightly for me. So I'm more concerned about the reduction in track width than how much more bling it looks. -3mm on each side should be ok??

No worries dude. we have the kena-ed the same poison. so share a bit of antidote is only fair.

5 spokes forged... yeah u're pretty much left with the GC-05K only.

yes i agree with u on the weight part, furthermore can use back stock tyres.

but quite apprehensive on the offset bit. i've noticed our outer clearance looks quite significant, hence i think by choosing ET50 will make the inset look even more obvious. that's my personal POV.

As for handling wise, i doubt will make much diff.

Maybe other bros here can input abit?

Yup, agree with your concern on the ET50 look. Which is why I was tempted to chiong for the ET35 at one point lol. But in the end I was too worried about hitting the fenders over large bumps or hard braking.

For the 7.5J, one possibility is to get the dealer to put in 3mm spacers which will bring it back to standard offset. Not sure if there are any issues with using spacers though, but maybe a thin 3mm spacer should be alright.

i'm curetnly using 8mm spacer. no issue so far. only u need to buy another set of longer bolt nut.

for 3mm i guess no need.

if u worry for the vibration caused by spacer, buy a reputable brand like Eibach. it should cost u ard 200 per set

Another viable option. Where did u get the spacers? 200 per set excluding bolts?

whoa ET35 a bit too much outset.

spacers is a solution but then again, personal POV, don't wana do any mods to the hubs cuz longer lugs are needed depending on the spacer thickness.

but its yr choice bro. :bounce: dun forget to post pictures after yr purchase! :becky:

Thanks for the advice. I've decided to bite the bullet and go for the prodrives 7.5JJ. Think I must be the only person around here not to upsize when changing rims haha :bounce:

I'll try installing it as it is to take a look. If the difference is not noticeable, I'll leave it. Somehow I think anything below 5mm might not be noticeable.

If it is, I'll look at the Eibach spacer. Though if I get the spacer, I might as well go for a bigger one like 5 or 8 mm :becky:
