Bros,

Dont know about C180CGI, but i believe the gear ratio for all the 5 speeder is the same. Hence, below is my experience with 3500km so far ....

S - i use this to weave around traffic, twisty roads and generally need to point and squirt a lot. Because it down shift faster, use lower gears generally to maintain revs, and especially for my tiny 1.6L ... maintain the rev at sweet power band of 2800-4000rpm and readily rev up to 6000rpm... so power is on tap. BUT, it consumes more because you are always at high revs, and can be uncomfortable when stuck in traffic.

C - i use this mode generally, especially when in slow traffic. It generally up shifts faster, slow to downshift, and rev is maintained at 1800 - 3000 rpm... rarely do i hit more than 4000rpm when on C. Consumption is best at C mode. But, it can be sluggish at times, and throttle responds is slow.

I wonder if its me or it generally the same... when i collected my car, ... for 2weeks, i felt comfortable and power is good enough for the roads.... now, after about 2 months, i feel that i should have gotten the C200 instead as i feel its not as fast as i would have wanted....

Hmm...that's what we thought and feared and hence we bit the bullet and went straight for the C200 instead even though my SE dangled a very attractive price for the C180BE then...

This is the official online interactive manual for the W204 C class with regards to C or S mode. Same information is found in your hardcopy manual.

Wow bro, u fierce ah. Running in also rev to 7k rpm. I so far dun dare to go above 4k... kiasi...

I found that in C mode, there seems to be some minor engine vibration when slowing down the car (just before the car comes to a complete stop). Basically feels like a manual car under engine braking but forget to depress clutch just before the car stops completely - dunno if this makes sense to anyone ha.

I guess this could be due to the fact that C mode restricts the lowest gear to 2nd gear?

Any other bros noticed this with their ride?

just completed 533 km with 60 litres fuel =8.8km per litre on C mode using 98 shell fuel.

Now testing S mode , let u guys know in 10 days ;>

I find in C mode for c180cgi is better, more smooth, engine quieter. shifting up is a breeze ;>

however, i notice on c mode from 1400 rpm to 1599rpm, the car kind of have a slight "voo voo" sound which i dont really like... anyone knows why?

When in ecp and aye jam, i think c mode better than s mode... s mode off is slow... any comments?

Not sure what you mean...

Been driving a manual car for ages previously and I don't think I have ever downshifted (or needed to) to the first gear before I came to a halt...

Anyway, what you described never happened to my C200 before...the car eases nicely to a stop each time unless of course I chomped on the brakes too hard...then my CO will definitely let me know...hahah

I also encountered the same sound as well. Just completed

abt 640km.. Is it true that for the first 1000km run in, the car shd not hit higher than 3k rpm?

I thought all the latest model need not to run in?? Didnt yr SE told u abt it? I m on S mode most of the time instead of C model, not much diff in the fuel consumption.

Got my C200 CGI 10 days ago , and completed about 500KM.

I do notice that on "C" mode , the gear shifting does not seems to be very smooth especially when the car is slowing down. Might be a flaw with the 5 speed gearbox , but i'm not too sure.

All new merc engines are already run-in but as according to my SE , it is advisable not to go abv 4500rpm at least for the 1st 1000km.

Overall the responsiveness of the car is really good. :becky:

I just read in the manual that we are not supposed to exceed 2/3 of the max rpm for the first 1500 km, which kinda contradicts what the SE said about no running in required.

Max rpm before redline is about 6200 so 2/3 = 4133 rpm...

Manual also said avoid using the +/- to kick down a gear during this period as well.

Can't wait to finish the 1500 km... so that I can really push the car abit.

Yes you are right as per the manual, but also SE also say no need run in...

i tried the S mode, floor it then it will rev all the way to 6000 RPM, the drag down, when at 6000 rpm release accelerator, the car kinda have a very draggy engine brake that i dont like, plsu ride quality like very rough.. dont feel like a merc.

If on C mode and you floor it, it hit 4200 RPM shift up, i find more smooth and also quiter and not so rough on the engine.

overrall i think C180 CGI can forget using S mode, since on C mode with ots torque at 1600 rpm, it shift so fast that its good and fast! so no need rev liek hell on the S mode...

i just completed 800km only heheh.. but just rev la...hehehe.. merc shoudl be able to take it ba...

Now it's 1500km, 500 km more than the initial 1000km as I thought.. Btw, I found that my black c180 cgi not easy to maintain, especially after some showers in the afternoon, there will be watermarks. Did you guys do the MB nano sealant for yr cars? It's $248 before gst for cars registered less than 1 month? I need some advice here. Thanks.

old.

It is a norm after e rain, black car will hv water mark stain. If u didn't get rid of it fast, once under e hot sun it's will 'bite' into yr car paint coating.

Solution :

a) When u took over e car, did u send it for grooming? If no, do it fast, look for our site sponsor for grooming services. Preferably, sign up a minimum 3 times grooming services. Reason, after e first grooming, go back for e second after six months later & so on.

B) u got to wash yr car on weekly basis. If u choose to go to petrol kisok then prepare for swirl mark etc.

c) do yr own grooming once or twice a month.

d) else all fail, change yr ride color to sliver!!

Hi ppl, I am new to this forum. Just booked my C180CGI and I have a few queries:

1. Can the merc take 95 petrol? Or min must be 98?

2. I am given $4000 service credits...how long can that last me in servicing?

3. How much does MB charges for their servicing?

4. Service interval is 15k km right?

Thank you!

My sentiments exactly with the 5 speeder. I feel the same way as you, but my car is the E250 CGI. I think it's not only the gear ratios that make the car so sluggish, but also how the engines are tuned. The 1.8T in the E250 only wakes up above 3,000rpm. Below that and the car is really sluggish. Trying to find a tuning solution to get the power for the low-end as we rarely hit above 3,000rpm. Detrimental to FC too - so far FC has been disappointing...

1. Yes 95. Dont go 98 unless V-power or if your car is modded

2. Very very long

I thought the CGI engine's turbo is a LPT which should spool at 1.8k rpm?

tuning options will be out soon i guess

wow... seems like my foot is very light then. :bounce:

i've been averaging 12 to 13km per litre. Usually 680 to 710 between fill ups of up to 56 to 57 litres.

But i'm a high miler. guess its good that i'm light footed. :becky:

got my car for 3.5 mths and it's already clocked up close to 11000km.
