Hi Fellows Merck

I am a new and I just got CLC 180 Kompressor. As I am heading to Msia very often, I planned to install a car alarm with anti tow and anti hi jack. I have been to a number of car accessories shops - 9 out of 10 said it cannot be done. One even said Blackjax will disrupt the immobilizer on board processor at the aftermath and it wont start. My concern is whether C&C will void my warranty. I appreciate any recommends. Thanks!

lol... if you're adventurous, you can get the original merc alarm for about sgd$1,400 (less installation).

it has anti-tow, ultrasonic interior motion sensing + normal alarm.

see those blank buttons in the center of your console, yup, some of it is for those alarm features.

(then again, to disable the alarm, they merely have to break the window and press those buttons above the console to turn the alarm off. but they will not be possible to disable the awesome immobilizer )

Hi TigerSharkBarn,

Welcome to the CAN Bus world of Mercedes benz.

I also recently spent relentless hours studying my options for this one as well.

There are a lot of local Car Alarm uncle shops that either say "Sorry Can Not!" or conversely they say "Can Lah!" but for a hefty sum.

There are basically two options that you have:

1. Correct Way.

Opt for a CAN Bus module that will integrate into your specific Merc.

The CAN Bus module will convert the Merc CAN Bus digital signals into analogue and will replicate the following:

  • ignition key signal output; +12V
  • open door information output, GND
  • open boot information output, GND
  • open bonnet information output, GND
  • arming impulse output, GND
  • disarming impulse output, GND

From here you can opt for an alarm your heart desires.

I opted for a fully integrated GSM pager unit that uses my existing Merc IR Keyless key.

Fully Compatible Merc CAN Bus Modules you can choose from:

CAN Bus MCB-01 by Jablotron based in Czech. (This works on my B Class)

(Good and works well on all Mercs, but you will need Jablotron HK to order and ship to you) Charged in Euros.

Fortin SL2 CAN Bus module.

Works on C Class and SLK Mercs. (Not tried and tested on other Mercs)

2. Hard Wire Way

Tap the accessable wiring points at the Door and window and current sensing and dry contact switch points before they get convert to digital CAN Bus.

Tedious wiring and labour and kind of messy.

It can be done and experienced alarm installers in SGP will take it on for a price of $700+ inc the alarm.

Remote Starting!

This does not provide you remote starting, you will need to seek a Bypass Module suited for your Merc. (Not advisable and hard to find as model specific)

Word or warning!

Mercs are famous for having trim that breaks if not taken off correctly.

Make sure your installer knows Mercs as the door trim can be a problem to remove.

More Food for thought and have lots of Fun.

Oh yeh .... since I got my Merc it reminds me somewhat of a very demanding girlfriend I once had.

Spends all my money and needs lots of Tender Loving Care, not to mention every time we go for a ride she needs a bath. :bounce:

Ciao for now!
