Hey Bros..

It seems that my second servicing is up @ 25,000KM OR 8-MAR-10, whichever comes early.

I have only driven for 20,000KM till date.

Should I already send my car in for service since it is already 16-Mar-10 or should I drive till 25,000KM?

Would it damage the car it I still continue to drive?

Pls advise!

many thanks.

Cheers

Ken

Back in 01'-02' lots of German rides recommended service schedule range fm 15k-20k mileage & known of many having engine problems due to the stress the cars had in our Hot/Humid climate with start & stop traffic.

To Compound matter worse, many AD drifted away fm using Recommended Brand of Engine Oil (to make more money fm using other cheaper brands) but viscosity are the same as Recommended.

However, simple calculation- would you use oil that hasn't been raced & tested in the most extreme conditions? Would you be penny wise & pound foolish to save a slightly more than a hundred dollars when your pride & joy cost in excess of 100+k or more?

I've never used AD oils for the longest living memory, always bring my own oils there for them to change & i'll pay for 'surcharges' & labor. Whatever oils that i put into my car, i make sure it's been battle tested & always change approx 5k mileage hence it's always More than willing & purring beautifully

20K or 25K also won't damage the engine... for myself, i will do the change every 10,000km to maintain the engine at its best... :) really not much diff at these low mileage :)

what engine oil is good for our merc ? Thanks

BMW Motorsports strongly recommends Castrol TSW 10W60 for their M cars but many E46 M3's suffered blown engines & mine couldn't withstand robust North South at full tilt for more than 100 odd KM without engine temp registering 120 degs & above.

Shell Ultra Helix 5W40 was used in Subaru Sti Specs C & Engine blown in 100 Km

Porsche strongly recommends Mobile 10W50, after 400-600km of constant abuse, engine feels sore & unwilling. Switch to Elf Racing 10W50 & engine always willing & never rough.

EVO Mag UK (Highly respected & No Nonsence Drivers Mag) owned & ran a Lamborghini Murciélago which was used extensively as a tack car suffered massive engine failure with torn crankshaft & they were using Shell Ultra Racing Helix 10W60. Factory did rebuilt & suggested they switch to AGIP Racing 10W60 & car has been fine since then & understands that Lambo LP 560 Racers are filled with AGIP Racing 10W60 fm factory.

C63 comes fm factory filled with Mobile 1 synegy 0W40 & recommends it, car always feels sluggish & unwilling to rev higher up but when i have it changed to Agip Racing 10W60, it totally transform it fm way it idle, rev & willingness to keep going on smoothly :becky:

It was use by many friends of mine with 'robust' (style) & all swear that it revs cleaner/ more willingly & smoother. Oh being 60 rating means viscosity of Oil thicker hence you need slightly longer time in the morning to wait for it to get to optimium temp or else it will be super 'Unwilling' to rev (this is the only downside i know of & some can't hack it). However as it's thicker, it means that when temp are higher (ambient & engine), the oil stays more stable unlike most oils that starts breaking down at 115-120 Degs engine oil temp.
