IU Problem

Hi guys, just want to ask if you guys who are driving C200 (W204) have any problem with your IU.

I have replaced my IU 4 times (cannot read cash card) since I got my C200 a year ago. The guys at Sin Ming VICOM told me it is a common problem among the C Class (W204). Met an uncle there who also complained that he has replaced his IU unit 5 times.

So would like to know if anyone has faced this problem before and if there is any solution to it. Super time consuming to keep going down to Vicom to fix the IU.

Many thanks.

Bro,

I know exactly what you are saying, you must be using the new generation IU which is small & thinner? Just collected my car approx 1 month ago & 50% of shopping centers IU reader have problems reading mine (Yes, it's a W204).

Be careful of Marina Sq carpark/ Takashimaya/ Paragon just to name a few which you most likely will face problems unless you manually insert cash card at entry & exit. Oh most Far East Group shopping complexes will not pose this problem which am told that the 'Software' of those affected places are not 'Up to date'!

Mine is the old type IU. Will take note of your experience. Thanks.

I've changed 2 IUs since.

So, rather than risking the 3rd time, I paid the $140 plus for the new IU.

So far so good.

Bro, mine was changed free after keep going in & out of CBD without having charges deducted! :becky: Life was also a bitch when i have to go carparks as i also cause a jam for the ERP thingy in carparks just can't read my IU & keep showing that have not inserted cash card or they have NO records of me coming in (when exiting).

Finally on my second inspection after recieving letter fm LTA to have it inspected, the vicom staffs finally had it changed & now all dandy-it's free.

In retrospect, actually i quite miss having a mess up IU for it's license to go anywhere free without having cash card deducted :becky:
