C200 W204 - Burst rim

My C200 front left rim burst when turning around the bend exiting to ECP last nite ; I was travelling about 60km/hr. I could have hit a stone/object. Initially I thot it was a tyre puncture.

The CSC3 tyres (1.5years old) was not damaged at all. But in the tyre shop, I later saw a burst hole the size of a dollar coin in the rim

Could it be a rim manufacturing defect?

Anybody had similar encounters?.

wah... you okay or not! sounds super serious.

if it is the failure of the rim and it can be proved that it is a manufacturing failure, C&C could pay a pretty penny to compensate you! (imho btw, not legal consultant, just think so.)

Wow.. Likewise it's the first time I've heard of such an incident. I've only ever seen rims make a clean break in half (mostly forged magnesium ones from Evos). I hope you had it well documented with pictures!

Latest - c&c examined the burst rim & said that rim bursting a hole at 50km/hr

is alright. What?? I informed them i'll lodge formal report to lta and let c&c reply to lta. Another latest finding -my back left rim is badly warped!

time to check your rims guys.
