Headliner is falling, W202

It started like a week ago where a small part of the fabric is separated. Today it forms one big bubble only to be held by the edges.

Has anyone gone through the same experience, please kindly refer and advise what was the cost? DIY or otherwise? Thank-you.

It happened to almost all the w202 w124 owner;and BMW can not be better;

due to the heat(Park outside) or steam cleaning;than it happened as not sign.

Don't DIY without tools;it will be a big mess.

It cost about 160 US to repair as I know.

This happened to my previous W202 as well. After a couple of weeks, the whole top will sag down!

I got it replaced at this shop at Alexandra Village, shop name is 8 Cushion, do a google search and give them a call, should be a few hundred bucks. Workmanship there is pretty good, and you can choose the fabric colour. They can also replace the pillars so that the colour will match.

Good luck!

Well I have decided to try diy. After removing the handles, dome lights, visors, pillars, door trims, etc, I am now ready to slide forward and remove the entire headliner. However realised that I will probably not have enough time to complete it before it gets dark and I still need the car for appointment tomorrow.

So decided to take shortcut and spray the adhesive inside the car instead, that means to skip removing the foam. This is probably not good and not lasting either. Hope that it can still last a few months before I will do fresh and solid replacement. That will give me some time to hunt for a good replacement material.

The pics shows how bad it was before the job. Entire piece has fallen and temporarily held in place by pins.

Hmm.. quite interesting to have a "quilted" look for the headlining. Luxe like Chanel bags. :)

On a side note, try for a quote at these guys - http://www.classicautoleather.com.sg

Humm, was it would have been nice if roof lining were done in Alcantara instead :becky:

Well, price is also a concerned. I went for the original spongy type and gotten a color similar with the original. Not bad actually and very affordable and good worksmanship.
