C200 Kompressor or C250 CGI ?

Just went down to C&C yesterday to test drive the C200 Kompressor and somehow felt the car is a bit under-power (as least compared to A4 1.8T)

Check with my SA and understand that C&C will be launching the C250 CGI (BE 1.8T with 204 Bps and 310Nm Torque) in June or July this year ... so i am pondering whether to wait for the C250 CGI or to get the current C200 Kompressor which cost about 12K - 15K lesser.

Is it advisable to wait for the C250 or wait for C&C to slash price for the C200 ? :P

it really depend how strong is yr urge to change to a new ride...before i bought my C200 abt 2 mth ago i actually considered A4...but having to wait 4 ~ 6 mths is crazy...so i decided to go for C200... if u can tahan the urge, why not wait for 6 more mths to get a more powderful ride...but again hah...i think the prices will definitely much higher than the current C200...by then yr current ride value may also drop ...

would a price cut swing your mind to buy the C200 since you felt it is under-powered ? if yes, then how much ?

if not, then wait for the new C250

but if u got the C200, there are 'avenues' to meet your power requirements .. I believe many here will not only show you the path but light it up for you :)

A4 1.8T is on multitronic gearbox aka CVT albeit chain driven (instead of belt driven). You sure you like the CVT whine?

C200K is on 5 speed torque converter auto trans.... there should be some power lost compared to Audi's CVT..... base on both car's kerb weight, i think you are not wrong to say that A4 feels faster as the max 240Nm torque arrives at 1800RPM, whereas C200's 250Nm arrives at 2800RPM..... and no torque lost to torque converter.

C250 CGI BE is also on 5speed auto.... but its definitely higher powered with the new 1.8 direct injection unit turbo charged. If the price diff between C200 and C250CGIBE is not too much, i'd wait for the C250.

Just wish they put 7Gtronics on the C250 as well.

But CVT is known to be smooth without any jerk and no power feeling leh.

yes, no jerk,.... but also known for its elastic feel. its either you love it or hate it. For me, i hate my wife's A170 Autotronic CVT.

Just went through Merc's deutschland website, their C180KBE and C200K are only available in 6speed manual. I guess C&C will be bringing in the new 1.8T CGI BE (direct injection, variable valve timing, and turbo charged) ones after this current batch are sold out.

C180CGIBE 156PS/5000rpm 250Nm/1600-4200rpm Cd 0.28 0-100 9.0sec

C180KBE 156PS/5200rpm 230Nm/2800-4600rpm Cd 0.26 0-100 9.9sec

C200K 184PS/5500rpm 250Nm/2800-5500rpm Cd 0.27 0-100 8.8sec

C200CGIBE 184PS/5250rpm 270Nm/1800-4600rpm Cd 0.28 0-100 8.2sec

C250CGIBE 200PS/5500rpm 310Nm/2000-4300rpm Cd 0.26 0-100 7.4sec

All CGI models are Euro5 emission compliant whereas kompressor models are Euro4.

Damn.... wonder if i can ask C&C to hold my order and change to the C180CGIBE.... all new AVANTGARDE model comes with daytime running LEDs in place of the foglights.

Bro,

Since U had a A4 1.8T CVT, have U considered the latest A4 2.0 TFSi Quattro Stronic (7 spd DSG) S-Line goin at $158+K with >$5K overtrade.

18" rims with S-Line Bodykit & trimmings.

Xenon Headlamps with DRL & Audi Drive Select (Comfort/Auto/Dynamic)

1 press of the Dynamic button, all ECU mapping, suspension & steering creates magic......hehehehe!

211ps with 350 Nm Torque starting from 1500 rpm

0 - 100 km/hr on paper faster than the Golf GTI @ 6.5 sec. :becky:

Top speed 250 km/hr.

After mTm Stage 1 ECU flashing with warranty from PA,

U get 270ps with 390 Nm Torque....not enough still got stage 2 & 3 to go...where got power too much....muahahaha!

I think this ride probably ticks all the right box for U!

We also tested the A4 1.8T before we decided on the C200 - but unlike you, we felt that it was the A4 1.8T that was underpowered and very sluggish due to the CVT...

And I don't think C&C will slash the price for the C200 - not when they are bringing in a face-lifted model shortly with a potentially new TC engine...

If you can wait go for the C250CGI and order with options like Xenons, AMG package, etc (provided you are willing to send more). If really compare C-Class against A4 you should be able to tell that C-class fit & finish, electronics and materials used better A4. Although C-Class overall length is slightly shorter than A4 but C-Class has more interior room than A4. However, A4’s look can make you fall in love on the first sight…like you see a swee chio bu and first thing crosses your mind - “I want to up her” then want to marry her or not is another thing!

C250CGI 310Nm of torque with 5-speed torque converter automatic gear box should be very nice to drive in SGP roads …also the 204Bhp confirms useful on NSHW. It’ll have the punch and not far away from VW/Audi 211PS/350NM power-plant.

If power is not a concern to you why not try bargain hard for the C200.

What is the price gap for A4 2.0TqS and C250CGI? If different less than SGD10k ~ 15k cheaper to get an A4 I’ll pick the C250CGI because I believe after 3 years ownership of the MB it will hold better resale value than Audi.

More or less, I feel the current C-Class quality built is like the old MB W124…“SOLID”

Just to confuse you a little…..why not save up and wait for the BMW F10 535i.

Happy shopping!

Hello Bro PH,

This lau teochew got nothing to lian abt when it's a further downgrade. From W211 downgrade to sherry QQ5 SUV & to recuperate losses,

further downgrade to a smaller sedan on the dark side....sob....sob!

BTW My underwear has to change often cos they get wet very easily especially when seeing chio bu, tee tee always got P Eja problem....muahahahaha!:becky:

I honestly took a hard look at the E250CGI but till now still have'nt got

use to like the shape. So in the end sold the sherry QQ5 & top up a little for a small sedan in stock condition enough to keep pace with the C350....heheheeh! :becky: Delivery mid to mth end this mth. :bounce:

I hope this time the relationship last abit longer!
