Nice... Can change W203 key to this bro? How much it cost and gotta reprogramme the key to get it to work?

Oh! i changed my W203 FOB to this chrome type. But its not easy. managed to get someone who make the PC board with the same skemetic with the chrome type PCB, then desolder the 2 EEPROM chips( AMS & NEC ) from my W203 FOB to this new PC board. Finally to this new chrome shell. But its definitely worth it! Total cost about $300.

new key will prolly be the older design...

Yup! U r right! FOr W203, the FOB will always be the old type. I have checked with C&C, the cost of a new(W203 model) FOB is about $800. So, no point paying that amt for still a old model FOB.

Actually the W203 later models (marketed under Sports) all came with the Chrome keys. Saw the black plastic Key housing at Marine Parade hawker center, they were asking for >$100+ for that plastic shell, definately not worth my $$$ :-) Been eyeing the Chrome key for a while myself but unfortunately, there isnt any economical solution. Do let me know if anyone got any ideas :-)

For old black W203 FOB empty shell, the cost is actually less than $100. I have also checked with Soxxi but they only have the old type(Black). Unless, u wanna change to the same old type, if not, u need to change the PCB as the old PCB cannot fit onto the new chrome PCB. anw, quite like the feel of the chrome type, so i think the price is still worth it for modifing the PCB & the empty shell.

oh, really? hmm...din noe there r W203 models come with the chrome type FOB. anw, it will not be any economical solution lo...as the chrome type empty shell( OEM ) already cost about $150( new original will cost around USD300+), then u need to change the PCB to the chrome type PCB in order to fit into the chrome type...

i am using the black shell type...is it possible to buy those chrome type FOB from ebay and get reprogrammed??

Nope! it is impossible to re-programmed as the EEPROM is not duplicable( this is one of the merc security feature). Moreover, the RF is diff also. 315mhz for W203 & 455mhz for chrome type. The only way to duplicate is to buy a diahostic machine from China( abt USD2000), take out the ECU, EIS, ESS from your car, copy out the source code & copy onto a empty FOB via dianostic machine. So, my way is the most economical.

erm....i doubt so bro. i had called C&C and was quoted something like $800+ for my W203(black type). I had called other MB supppliers & the cheapest i can find is ard $600+. I dunno abt W204 chrome type cost, but i think it will cost somewhere near there. u sure can get ard $300 from C&C?

What's the reason for the old W203 pcb not able to fit into the chrome type? Is it the size or the space for certain component? I am thinking in the line of cutting more space if this is the problem.

the W203 PCB is way much bigger than the W204 chrome type. So, there is no way u can cut the shell or PCB to fit onto the chrome shell(u can refer to my pic on page 1). The only way is to make another PCB with the same skemetic and size as the chrome type, switch the EEPROM over. If any bro have a more economical way, do let me know ya.

My Key went into the washing machine.... i went C&C they say change 1 $500

@!$!@$!@$

Any chance of reviving it ???

Try taking out the PC board & dry it with a hairdryer. As most of the parts are passive components( except the EEPROM), it should be able to work once it is dry ya. If cannot, u can try getting a new PC board, desolder the EEPROM(taking into consideration they are working) & solder it onto the another PC board. Make sure u get the frequency correct though. Good Luck!
