tweaking odometer

hi everyone, i have read bad cases of some places reducing the mileage on bimmers so as to fetch a better price but so far on the merc forum i have not read of such concerns... may i know if this is possible on a merc?

appreciate it as i see some of the mileage on some merc selling in sgcarmart felt really low.

Yes! There are many China Key Dianostics Manufacturer have programmer that can altered the odometer thru the ECU. I even saw a video demo on how to do it.

wonder if in singapore this is common for Merc car... just wanna pay the right value for a used car...

If you buy from Republic Auto , which is a subsidiary of C&C , i don't think they would do this....not sure about the owners themselves doing this before selling to dealers.... but it is possible to have low mileage... my ride is 3 years and 5 months liao and only 52000KM , never have a problem before..... but beware most continental cars problems starts coming at the 3-5 year mark

yeah, don't get me started with that.

republic auto can literally set the prices for the used mercs in the market. they have large number of mercs that were traded in for newer mercs and with that kind of volume, they can set a high price and the rest of the dealers will happily follow.

the upside is, i find that you can fight for different things compared to the usual dealers.

things you can try to ask for (since it is technically free to them, internal pricing perhaps):

-free servicing ( hopefully with parts included =D )

-extended warranty

-correct any defects detected for free

-obtain past history

i think there is pre-owned inspection by C&C service right ?

i guess there must be truth to tweaking odo but there are many genuine low mileage cars around ...

Rep might monopolise the bulk of trade-in Merc but there are some other shops that carry fairly good condition Merc .. hunt around .. BW, HinLung and at times PPSL .. etc
