Advice on purchasing a new C180

Hi

Was researching on the C class and stumbled onto this forum. I would be going for a test drive either this weekend or the next.

As this is my first time buying a German saloon, could some of the more experienced ones here provide me with some advice. I need to know what kind of a net price i can expect as i know the list price is usually marked up. Any SE to recommend? Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated. Please PM me if you find that the information you can provide is sensitive.

Do a search here for yr answer and go for a test drive then ask about how to mod it.

I was looking to find more recent prices. Prices that turned up in searches here seemed much lower probably due to the lower COE back then.

Is there even a kbox for the 1.6l ingine?

There should be but if you want/need the HP then go for the C200 direct instead of buying the C180 and spending $ modding it plus you might have issues as it might void your engine warranty. Had a look around new kleemann mods from the fellow bros as follows feel free to correct me if im wrong

1. K-Box $3400

2. Kleemann Headers $3600

Add that to your initial purchase price of your C180 and you might as well get the C200 AND enjoy your warranty !

hi threadstarter, i went for a test drive on the c180 yesterday and is pretty impressed with the 1.6L BE engine (i didnt test drive the c200)... it doesnt feel like a 1.6 at all although stepping on the throttle the response was not immediate even on S mode but it was ok for me. Prolly a SB will help. Both c180 and c200 do not come with bixenon, just normal headlights. c180 has no memory package but it's ok since i am the only chauffeur. great level of comfort and the rear seats felt more spacious than a 320i. SE demo the BT function and it does sound good coming from the speaker. i would love to add on the AMG package coz all the items in that pack is just brilliant!

in terms of service, when me and my family step into MB showroom i was immediately greeted by a SE and was treated like a customer should... not the case when i step into PML next door, i had to ask for a SE even though the info counter can see me walking ard without any helper.

overall package for current promo is:

c180 u should get a str8 3K off 141888 price tag and SE explained the additional discounts of up to 5K more. promo ends 20 something Dec. interest for this promo is 2.2%

320i bimmer SE told me the promo will fetch 10K more as overtrade on my trade in car... interest is 2.19% and so far PML gives better trade in of 2.5K more than C&C.

btw c-class comes with new rims (17" 17 spokes) nowadays but i like the previous twin 5 spoke design. 320i will also intro new rim design for 2010 but remains at 16", SE showed me the pic and it's definitely better looking than current design, 5-V shape twin spokes, much sportier looking...

hope this was helpful. just sharing... since i think if u are looking for c180 then shortlisted u prolly have 320i in radar too.

Yup, that's what we did...

Tried the C180 and the CLC180...but after trying the C200, that was the one for us...
