Are you just changing just the bulb, or the whole license plate assembly?

If only change bulb, you need to take out the whole inner lining of your boot. You need to take out all the plastic pins and a few torx screws in order to remove the inner lining. Then reach the wiring connected to the bulb from inside and pull out the bulb and change it. Should be a 15mins job.

If you're changing the whole license plate lights assembly, things get much more complicated. You'll need to remove the chrome piece below the merc logo on the boot in order to change it. Not easy to remove the chrome piece, need to take out screws from inside which you can't see! See this thread:

Let me know if you need help, I've done both the above before!

Good luck!

I've changed the bulbs in the front headlights, angel eyes, fog lights, number plate lights, side signal lights etc in my 523 (remember I'm mad about lights?). What do you mean by glass/plastic casing? BTW, to change the bulb in the main xenon lights, you need to loosen aka tia the bumper! Not a DIY-able thing for us I think.

Thanks bro for your quick reply. I just need to change the light bulb as one of them blew. I will try to do it later. Will contact you again if I need help..... Thanks once again

No prob! Should be do-able. Just have to take out all the connecting pins securing the inner lining, and use your fingers to 'feel' the wirings connected to the bulb. Happy bulb changing!
