stop by the police... They might check your car to look for any Pirated CD/DVD/VCD..and fine you on the spot...

Do Not Fret.... Extracted from another forum and find his tips useful

*Hints* that i found on some forums on why the CDs in our cars should be "safe" and "they" have no right to fine / saman us.

COMMENT 1:

this is absolute abuse of power again...to have a copied disc in the car is not an offence...it is for personal use and not for the public...

if going by their rules then carrying an i-pod or mp3 player is an offence since its contents is copied..

i will not bother to worry about it and go to court and argue the case..

once you say that they will back off

COMMENT 2:

It has happened before recently.... .a friend's hubby was searched and issued a compund of RM12K for CDs found in his car. He was dumbfounded! !!! So with that I enlisted some legal advice from a buddy of mine (who happened to be in the practice of copyright issues) and he told me that the police have no rights to issue compounds on that basis.

Compounds issued are not valid as piracy cases MUST be charged in court. So you can just ignore the compounds; he advised.

By the way, how can the police determine whether the songs are not legally burned into a CD? Legality is hard to determine in cases like this unless they catch you red handed with multiple burning devices in operation for commercial purposes (to sell to gain money). So keep cool everyone!

All,

Just to share, M'sian government has just revised their copyright ruling to tighten the grasp on pirated CDs. Previously, possession of max 3 pieces is legal. Latest revision reduced that number to just 1 piece.

Officials are already taking this opportunity to do what they do best...(if you know what I mean)...so be discreet and careful.
