you get hit by a Drunk-driver???You can't claim anything from Him/Her???

Extracted from another Forum...

This morning at the exit from CTE towards AMK Ave 3, was waiting at the traffic light when I was hit by a drunk driver. Back of the car is seriously damage. I suffered from whiplash and had to call the police and ambulance. Sent to TTSH to be checked properly.

Now for the good part: even though this should be a open and shut third party claim case, I now have to claim against my OWN insurance because once the other party is charged by TP for drunk driving, his insurance company will not pay a SINGLE CENT.

I now have to fork out money from my own pocket for a cheap rental car, lose my NCD for next year, pay excess for claiming my insurance, and most likely my premium will shoot up next year.

Moral of the story:

If you get hit from behind by a drunk driver, it's better NOT to call in the authorities....

sian........

Huh? I thought you still can claim against his insurance company for the damages he did to your car, just that he can't claim his own insurance to fix his own car...

lidat jialat leh..

Quoted by TS

confirm cannot. I checked with my insurance company (AXA), my own workshop, AXA preferred workshop, even my tow truck driver, all say the same thing....

According to my workshop, if I want the other driver to pay, I have to engage my own lawyer, file a CIVIL suit, go to court and fight.

The other driver is a twenty-something guy driving a *** **** car, I honestly don't think my chances of getting any compensation out of him is very high...

quite silly hor ? that's why we buy insurance in the event meet such pests and yet :banghead:

just like the credit card liability thingy, the service providers will try to fleece and get away with anything they can when the consumers have little or no choice (in this case).

Got 1 time, was driving my company van along ECP at about 2am when this mofo driving a Mark X grazed gently along my side.

We both stopped at the shoulder and the moment he come out, can tell he's been drinking.

His ears all red, face like tomato..

The damage was quite minimal to both vehicles but i told him that its better for me to report to the police since its my company van and i'm just the worker..

I scared wait my "boss" scold me..

To make story short, both of us exited rochor exit, went to textile centre, he went to OCBC bank there and withdraw $1500 to cover my "scratch".

Imagine if he knew about this policy!!!

Sure he say just call police lor!! in the end, i also won't get anything from his insurance!

Basket!!! This type of thing, hopefully not many ppl know about it lor!!
