Somebody Not Happy with some Car Owners......

Slew of souped-up, modified vehicles that should be brought to book

OF LATE, I have observed the rampant modification of vehicles on our roads.

This raises questions about the lack of strict enforcement by the authorities to ensure the safety of pedestrians and road users, particularly those on motorcycles.

The addition of Formula One-style rear spoilers is the first case in point. These spoilers are usually elevated metal plates screwed onto the lid of the boot. With the speed at which these cars usually travel, motorcyclists or pedestrians who are hit may be flung over the car and slashed by these metal plates, resulting in even more severe injuries.

The second case is that of mini sport utility vehicles (SUVs) whose suspension systems are raised ridiculously above ground level. In a frontal collision, these vehicles would tend to ride over the other vehicle, crushing it underneath. With a rear collision, the other vehicle would be wedged in. Can anyone imagine how a motorcycle would end up in this scenario?

Years ago, pickups, lorries and other heavy vehicles were required to install some kind of fencing structure underneath to prevent such accidents. Why are these errant vehicles now spared?

Recent advancements in vehicle design stress collapsible front sections to absorb any impact. Some manufacturers even have a feature to soften the impact on people hit by these vehicles. Then came SUVs equipped with "kangaroo" bars - metal bars installed at the front to protect the vehicle during collisions. How could these be allowed on the roads at all?

Finally, there are the small vans that carry passengers in the cargo area. Most of the passengers sit on stools that are not securely bolted down. There are even instances of unrestrained children running and playing in the cargo area as the vehicle is moving.

Is there a law that penalises people who endanger the lives of others by a rash act? If there is one, why is it not enforced in such cases?

totally agree with this statement, so when's the authorities gaoing to crack down on pedestrains who give you that come-knock-me-if-you-dare kinda look when they jaywalk? or motorcyclist that weave in and out of traffic dangerously or cut into the lanes of cars adruptly thinking its their god given rights?

Well... I usually call their bluff and accelerate into them. They then get the look of terror and MOVE THEIR ASSES. I think the worst types are the bangla cyclists (I'm singling them out because every time this happens, it's a bangla worker) who just cycle through red lights ACROSS 3 lanes and cause lots of near accidents because people have to jam their brakes or swerve dangerously to avoid smashing their puny little brains across the asphalt.

He missed out carbon fibre shards from accident vehicles equipped with such modifications entering the victims bloodstream and poisoning them... Best way to tell if the parts are real CF or sandwiched FRP.
