BYO engine oil

Hi folks,

I am puzzled? ???

I read somewhere in this forum that we can bring our own engine oil for car servicing and someone actually did.

And I have checked with my Sales person, also say can.

BUT, today called the Customer Assistance Center to confirm and they say cannot. The story goes.....

A very polite and nice customer service person answered my call.

I asked if can BYO engine oil for servicing.

Firstly, it was a yes can but with a charge $.

Asked about how much the charge?

Have to check with service center, I was put on hold.

Then the answer came back as - cannot bring own oil. ???

Anyone experienced bringing your own oil and at which service center? BTW, which center is better? Service interval is 15K?

Thanks :iconsalut:

I assume you are going to C&C for servicing. No, you can't bring your own oil. But if you insist on using Mobil 1, which is the recommended engine oil for Mercedes-Benz, and which incidentally C&C does not carry, it can help you buy. The reason you can't BYO is because C&C need to ensure the quality of the oil you are using since it is providing you with the car warranty. BYO oil can get contaminated, and C&C does not want to take the risks.

I posted 2 weeks ago in one of the topics. Yes, I brought my own engine oil for 15k servicing last month. No extra charge.

So... can or not?

Hi tategoi,

When you mentioned buy, do you mean get them to buy on our behalf? ;)

Yes. That's what the manager Andrew told me. But wn7 was able to BYO. So the best is for you to call C&C and ask.
