Hello from a newbie, and question on PI Merc, please?

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum, and would appreciate the expert advice of the brothers here. I previously drove a W211 E200, but sold it about a year back, in anticipation of the new W212. When the W212 finally arrived, I hated the looks, so now I'm looking at the C class W204 instead. Actually, I am quite set on the C63.

I'm thinking of getting the C63 from a Parallel Import source - any brothers have any comments about PI cars? Pros vs. cons? One of my friends asked me to do this logical calculation: C&C C63: $358,888. PI C63: 298,800. Big difference in price, and even if the PI car broke down and I needed to pay for the parts, there was no way I'd have to fork out the $60,000 in price difference to get those parts fixed. Meaning to say, C&C "3 year warranty" isn't worth the extra 60K I would be paying for the C63.

What do the forum experts here think of that reasoning?

Would be very grateful for your comments.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Wobbles

Thanks for the reply, ehwwong... I just found a thread about your quest to become a C class owner, and I'm reading that earnestly ... my previously W203 C from C&C was a total lemon, the W211 was only slightly better (but super short on options and super never-show-face-after-the-sale-was-made salesperson), so I am not terribly impressed with the service thus far... just worried that the PI's would end up being a bigger nightmare, that's all!

Hi wobbles. I believe First Automobile have delivered 1 or 2 C63s to extremely satisfied clients in the last quarter or so. No bullshit respectful treatment from sales staff and no hidden costs/fees. They were the first to deliver Nissan GT-Rs when they first hit our shores.

They are also the official Brabus distributors for this region which means you can order a Brabus spec'd vehicle straight from the Brabus factory to your doorstep should you choose to exercise that option.

Hope this helps.

Thanks g8crasher. I'll definitely check out First Automobile. Am doing the planning stage first... need to do my sums, plan the financing etc, and most importantly, convince the wife why I need to spend like 3 years of salary on a car... but, we only live once, and I'm not getting any younger.

Best reason - ever. Good luck.

our lovely member kopimonster can be the push factor to tip your decision in favour of the C63 should you ever need it. his wife & 2 young kids dig the family car. :yumyum:

Hi First Automobile,

If I'm interested in getting a C200 , how long would I have to wait to get the car?

Maybe I'll drop by tomorrow to see you. Just remember to give me a good price and no gimmicks when I come! :) I'll tell you i'm from the forum..

Just call C&C ..

Seems like not much discount.. for C200..

They selling at $156,888..

- $5000 overtrade (if you trade in, if not, it will be used to offset the workshop servicings)

- 8% cash rebate (only if you take a > 70% loan at higher interest rate)

So.. basically I'm buying at 156,888.... sucks!

Have you considered a C180? Blue efficiency supposed to be just as good as a C200?

I've test-drove the C180 in Feb but felt it to be underpowered. C200 is supposed to be the souped-up version of C180 rite?

Or is this C180 blue efficiency a new version?

Anyway, I'll be going down to C&c tomorrow.. hopefully can get some desperate SE who have not meet quota to sell me with some discount and freebies.

Can anyone share what is the typical discount I can get and what freebies? Thanks! :) I always seem to get chopped by people.. not a very good negotiator..

We tried both the C180 and C200 and the latter won hands down...

The C180 sounded too strained to me - then again, I was sort of comparing it against my current 2.3l turbo ride :bboyspin:

Anyway, I pmed you...

Whoever that started this track may had bought his MB by now. Hiah...... If I can turn back the clock, I would had gone with the PIs. Just need to find a good PI.

For the price I've got for my C200 with C&C, I would have been able to get a C230 with Sunroof and more freebies thrown in from PI.

Anyway what pissed me was the service provided by C&C. Now I understand why I read so many "Bang Tables" from forum folks. (I think that's why MBC is located near Ikea......easy to get new tables)

Bad experience started when I met an accident in my 4.5months old C200 recently... I called for Star Assist. They'd had indicated 45min waiting time for Tow Truck to arrive. 1 hour later, I received a call from Tow Truck operator, informing me that the tow truck will arrive in another 1 hour. Siao man!! I cow peh cow bu back to Star Assist. Eventually, took more than 1 hr 30min from first call to Star Assist till arrival of Tower.

Took cab to Pandan Loop Service Centre. A huge reception area filled with Bua Long Long Staff. 30 min queue time before I got attended to. My first accident case. Already feeling very sway, very sian, very blur and very nervous. Service assistant took over. Threw me the accident form to fill up. He didn't even assist me in filling up. I left a few items blanked. He didn't even go through the form and proceed with the insurance filing.

Service person said that the repair takes 6 days. In between these few days, the service assistant called me only to check on details for the form. He didn't even inform me about the type of damage to my car, what will they be doing etc. (Try imagine...... Surgeon advise you that you need an operation....but never tell you what he'll be doing. Scary man!).

7th day.....buay tahan liao. Called C&C to check. Service assistant on leave. told me car is ready but need to confirm with service assistant. I asked them to check and call me to update the status. 8th day. No call. Hotline busy. 15minutes on wait. Buay Tahan. Called SE to help me.

Till now.....I had yet to collect my car. Still Sway, Still Sian. Still Pissed...... Maybe can't be pissed off liao....coz all my urine all drained. Trickling blood liao!

Yah...I've gotten the number liao. I'm gonna write in officially in 200gsm quality paper, sign + sealing it with a KPISS.

I think PI will give better service man!!

Really sian! Maybe a C200 in a C&C Merc is like a Honda Jazz in Kah Motors? Haha....but I think the Jazz owners will still receive better service in Kah Motors than us.

Just collected my car. Guess what? After making the payment at the cashier, the service agent told me, "Sir, you vehicle is now outside at the carpark. Here's your car key. You can go over and drive out the car (yourself)."

Oh man!! Even when I send my Jip Poon Chia for service at Kah Motor, the service person will still accompany me to my car.

Even buy a $0.70 ice cream cone at McDonald's.....I still get to be greeted with a welcome and a "Thank you Have a nice day".

yes, richard.. don't let them get away with such bad service.. i am sure your experience is not isolated.. perhaps many had been given the same treatment..

i guess its time for C&C to wake up and polish up the CS skills to be on par with what they are selling.. premium car must come with premium service..

oh.. and drink lotsa of water to replenish your piss.. haha
