no, as long you are from NCC, no matter how high your rank is, still way lower than a SAF Rec. coz it is NCC, not SAF.

teacher officers have to be greeted by SAF personnel.

students no matter what will still be lower than SAF rec.

LTA (NCC Tchr) = LTA (SAF)

They are commissioned by parliament.

To Unker ranks not very important to me.

After passing out recruit trg in SAFT - 3 mths, vocation trg 3 months in SAFTI - 8th month got my corporal stripes in Arty Unit.

Becum Mi C or rather Snr. Medic in Medical Center.

After 30 months or rather 2.5 years - R.O.D still as a corporal. :banghead:

After 6 annual in-camps and they retired me from NS at the age of 40, Unker still CONDEMNED as a CORPORAL :banghead:.....i.e after 8 mths in NS becum CORPORAL :clap:......the next 18 years remained as a CORPORAL :asshole:........Long serviced Corporal :twinmfinger:...........muahahahahaha!!!!

(Unker remembered my 1st in-camp, quite a few lance corporal after 6 annual in-camps have becum SSG....so much for ranks.......whahahaha!!!!)

This thread is interesting. I feel that nowadays, NS is a piece of cake.. cos no 'ter-kan' lor kekeke ;D Ok, i'm one of those old birds that did my national service back in the 80's. Let me recall what i can remember during BMT. In those days, my number 4 uniform was just one color...green, number 3 uniform must have starch, so much starch that when you put it on the floor, the uniform can stand by itself! Boots has to be polish like 'mirror'. PE attire looks like we're prisoners of war, bed has to be so damn flat that when the sgt. drops a coin on the bed it'll bounce back. Our M-16 barrel is cleaner than my ass :asshole:...even 'no elephant' sgt. also say got elephant, almost everything we do right, also say wrong..kanna drop 20 pushup like a million times, also if 1 fella did wrong, all the whole platoon kanna bla bla bla. Also cannot complain...if complain sure kanna mark big time! After BMT, went to School Of Armour, also kanna 'ter-kan' big time. Was tank driver of those bloody old AMX 13 & M113. Oh...forgot to mention, i always kanna from the NCO's etc, just bcoz my surname is 'KENG', they think i always 'KENG KAH LIAO' lor, kanna disturb big time from others, call me 'KENG KING'...knn :-\, but on the contrary, i was damn on the ball. Later posted to 42SAR @ Salarang Barracks. One thing i wanna say is, although it was damn tough, i'm proud to be a tank driver cos where else can you experience driving a tank & drifting it like a car? ;D S'pore can count on me if the need arises. :thumbsup:

i polish the high gloss ones from SAF emart with the leather car seat cleaner. Now ultimate shine liaos.

those were the days man......true nowadays NS or NSF is definitely much better with the 3G army going on................

i've had mine done in the mid 90's and also had since ended my NS (now MR already). Indeed really a very good experience (good & bad).....

just enjoy every moment while you can......like taking heli during training, live-firing, etc.... etc.........you can't find all this anywhere unless otherwise.......

1615 - Smoke break

1645 - End of day

Now I ask u, wouldn't I be a better member of society if I was just at work??

But since I kena this lobo thing, might as well change my mindset and try to enjoy it as much as possible ah..
