you will need an optional FM antenna to receive live traffic update. Some Garmin models will come with it.

Unfortunately, Singapore's road management is not up to the standard of US, so we don't have such service here.

My Garmin unit came with the FM antenna. I used it in Europe 2 years back, and indeed you can get traffic updates like traffic jams or accident sites. There are news that such features will be available in SGP soon, but how soon I don't know.

which model did you buy?

I think is 710 or something like that. Later I go see already let you know. I bought a Europe unit with built in European maps, and plug in SGP SD Card cos I was going to Europe 2 years back for a long holiday.

Probably paid the price of a bomb back then! :death:

Paid 1.2k for it 2 years back. But bo pian, I went for a 2+weeks driving holiday with my family and needed this badly. But it was really very useful over there, just can't survive without one! Enjoyed the trip thoroughly!

Couldn't agreed more that U definitely need 1 when U are on a driving holiday.

When I go back to my kampung in North Sumatra I also use it every time or else cannot find my kampung attap house....hehehe!

Knew how much U paid cos I have the 670...heheheheeh!!! :death:

KNN! Nowadays they are "so cheap" even with the newer Nuvi 7 & 8 series

BTW I think your D1S 6k bulbs are here.

Tmr I go to Post Office to collect them before I go Btm for work.

I will pass them to U @ next Sunday GTG.

Main local Garmin sellers U have Navicom, Eastgear & Perferct Watch.

What's the diff. other than price, I dunno.

As far as MalsingMap local bought Garmin set get free latest MY/SG maps & updates - but dunno for how long.

Breakaway MalFreeMaps so far still dishes out free MY/SG maps and getting better day by day. Maps more stylo milo with nice location icons

Jerome Wee donation site SG/JHR maps are part of MalsingMaps anyway.

Unker still using the old Garmin 670 - waiting for 3D maps with lane assist features to be swee swee boh chow chwee before I change my GPSR ;D

Was told that the Garmin 765T runs on 3D maps.

Bluetooth HP connections must have - no need to wait for handovers from Merc. :bootyshake:

Ok sifus thank you very much for the useful information. I was just clouding my judgement again by reading more reviews for more devices.

TomTom (I like the sound of this device) has a really interesting feature called MapShare that allows users to update changes to maps via contributions (ie roadworks, change of lane direction). Also just found out that TomTom has finally released their iPhone 3G/S map application to the tune of US$99.95. GPS via iPhone will definitely be a slower experience compared to it's purpose built competition but the car cradle kit is really damn cool PLUS you can use the phone etc.

Garmin's Lane assist sounds really good though.

i was keeping an eye out for the TomTom for iPhone. From the iTunes store - it seems that they only ported the US and Europe maps leh.

(Really hope that I am wrong...)... cause i am looking around for a GPS solution now - and a USD99 bucks one that can work with my iPhone is really appealing!

There is a turn by turn GPS solution for the iPhone out already - but apparently the reviews aren't that great.

For those who are interested.. here is the link - http://www.imerlion.com/search/label/GPS

Eastgear is a PI :), Perfect Watch takes from ABT but I think it is more ex than Navicom.

ABT & Navicom gives full Msia/SG map. Think it is free all the way.... go check malsingmap forum for more details.

Jerome's map is good but only SG & Johor nia. To make use of both requires a little kunghu...

Hi, I am currently using the 765, it is cool with lane assist.

bro, wondering does the lane assist really work?

yes, work very well. we all experienced it during our recent Malacca trip, no miss turn at all.
