It really depend on your budget....

From 12th April, all hotel rate increase at least 40% for non peak, 100% on peak.

There is 2 exhibition hall now, anyway is not very far, there are free shuuttle bus from most 4 star upward hotel.

Peak could cost you 1000CNY or more for 5 star per night.

Hotel Venus peak 600CYN , which have a big SPA . :devil2:

Lui Hua Hotel 700CYN , stone throw to shopping / Whloesale of Fashion.

From Airport, you can take a cab down town which cost you about 300CYN max, or you can do online booking for hotel which they will give you pickup service.

Of cos take train would be 'Cheap & Good'. From GZ to DG by Train is less than 30min.

Which date are you going ? I am there from 18th -22nd, early May too.....

Try this

Bro Raskie,

Thanks for ur reply. Actually, I am planning to stay at DG.. I thought Guangdong was the province so when I said DG/Guangdong, what I meant was, DG in the GD province. Sorry if there was any misunderstanding.. Damn blur abt this place ah..

Anyway, am looking at hotels near the DG exhibition actually. Also, do u think its best to take a cab from Guangzhou airport or do u think its faster if I take the train?

Don't care abt the price ah, just need to get there as fast as possible so I can hit the expo the moment I arrive in DG..

hmmm .. can be tricky if u are first time there ... the fastest is by train from GZ to DG and then catch a taxi but the latter is tricky in that you might get cheated ...

You need to catch a taxi from airport to GZ East Train Station cost about RMB100, then catch the train - the train is quite frequent and then taxi to hotel/exhibition

lotsa of hotels in DG .. you can try DG Exhibition International Hotel ...

btw, there are coaches from GZ Baiyun Airport go directly to DG. Takes about 2-2.5hrs. This is is perhaps the easiest and most convenient way to travel if u are not sure ... from the drop-off at DG, just grab a taxi to the hotel or Exhibition Centre.

Alternatively if u want to catch the train to DG, I can pass you a driver contact to fetch u from DG train station to where you want to go ... will cost more than taxi but safety/convenience assured. He fetch/send me to SZ airport when I visit.

let me know ..

Ey bro, thanks so much for all your help man.

Will be checking out that hotel that u recommended me as well as discuss with my partner which mode of transport should we take.

So far, the most convenient way to get to DG is via coach which takes abt 2-2.5hrs like u said. But the train is the fastest since it only takes abt 30mins to get to DG and from there, take a cab from the train station to exhibition hall.

Also, so far, i'm keen on either the DG exhibition hotel or the regal hotel as both hotels are pretty near the exhibition.

Bro Narmi, i also recommend that you take the coach buses from the airport to DG. Fastest & safest. Remember when there, if you need to move around...pleaseeee only take licence taxis.!!! ::)

pls be careful with the 100rmb notes ... else u be treated to (un)welcomed show of note swapping ... you'll be amazed at their expertise ...

keep small notes if possible ....

hahahahaha.....I kena 1 time in Beijing.

Purchased from a pop Chinese Medical Store and I was given some change with 100 rmb notes.

After that went to McDonald, they politely refused my 100 rmb note and asked for small change.

Then went to a souvenir store, this time the seller bluntly me the note is a fake.....F$#kin!

lotsa con-tricks .. just beware and if it is too good to be true ... walk away. Dun hand over payment in a lump sum ... for example, if payment is 500rmb, they can accept the notes from you , in front of your eyes, say one or two of them are fakes, ask u to replace them and when u are distracted, the con happens !

beware of pickpockets in GZ too .. dun wear yr backpack like we do here .. keep it in front of you

most impt, dun follow pple into alleys for shortcuts or otherwise ..

but dun let these scare u .. just be alert and u enjoy yrself there ... lotsa good and cheap places to eat and in DG, lotsa stuff to buy ...

Wah?!?!

Wassup with the 100RMB notes?

And decided, to take the coach ah from the airport..

Hi Datuk!

I was told the people there know how to differentiate bet a fake and a real 100 rmb note.

I dun think U and I know.

Bro Raskie maybe can englighten us.

Best to change your rmb in the hotel or "larger establishment".

Like any place U visit, always be aware of your surroundings too.

I am one who walk and often look behind if the same person/people are always walking behind U.

If they do, stop walking!

If someone infront drop some things, dun bend down and pick it up.

If it's a pickpocket gang, the moment U bend down, your ar$e is gone....wahahaha!!! ;D

I have stayed in DG once many years back in Hoover Hotel.

They have a nice restaurant & karaoke and many mei mei....hehehehe!!!...that's the only thing I remembered very well. :D

alas .. me also no expert le ... btw, change money here ... cannot change there ... also dun think u want to chance changing there ! although if run out of cash, can use the ATMs with Cirrus logo to withdraw ...

yes becos of the massive layoff due to recession, there are more pple up to no good there ... sigh ... stay clear of the child beggers or anyone approaching you for money ... just look straight, be firm and walk away ... a friend of mine, pity the small gal, take out wallet to give, kena barged upon by a group of young teens, lost money and camera ... aiyoh ....

dress down, stay near crowded areas and be alert as wat unker advised ... if u have weak tummy, eat at hotel restaurants ... it will be affordable, yet yummy and kinder to tummy lor ...

KTV .. aiyah, @-@ ...... :yumyum:
