Erratic Dashboard Display on C180

Recommended Posts

Hi,

wonder if anyone knows what could be the likely fault in my 6-year old C180.

Car starts and drive normally but the displays on both centre console and dashboard are showing weird behaviour.

1. When I step on the brakes when car is in motion, the centre console display switches to "rear camera view" for a short while before reverting. This happens almost all the time in the early part of a drive. Will not happen when car is truly warmed-up and running.

2. At times, when the car goes over potholes, the speedometer dashboard will turn red (yes, RED) and display "check all tires pressure now". Only way to get rid of the message is to restart the Run Flat Indicator.

3. Just this morning, when the signal indicator is activated, the centre console display starts switching to "rear camera view" and back, non-stop until the signal indicator is OFF.

I hope that the fault is a loose contact somewhere and my worst fear is that the entire electrical PCB/IC board has to be changed.

Bro,

You may have a problem with the right side tail lamp connection. Most probably, the connection is burnt. It happened to me a few months back, while driving, the rear-camera suddenly switches on. You may have to replace the assembly part and most probably you have a burnt cable connection.

Buy the parts from Tye Soon and get a wireman to do it for you.

Hey Sliver88, you absolutely nailed it. It wasn't just a burnt cable. The assembly part and connector were burnt too! Although only the right side was damaged, I got the left side replaced too. Just to be safe. Problem solved. Thanks for the tip on Tye Soon. Cheers!

  • 3 months later...

Hi all seniors. I was driving over humps at low speed this evening. All of a sudden, my front left brake jam the left wheel by itself and a lot of sensors lit up on my dashboard.

After I manage to stop the car safely, the light went off. And later at night I went over a hump agaun and the handbrake sign came on plus aircon off and aircon switch all black out. After 1-2 mins the aircon came on and the switch able to control again.

If I dun want to go back cycle where can I go and get expert to rectify?

Btw I am driving a w204fl.
